There is nothing scientific about Marxism
18 Oct 2005
This is one of the biggest fraudulant claims by Marx. Simple observation of history does not provide a scientific basis for anything. True science requires experimentation with control groups.

While Marx was a brilliant economist, calling his theory "Scientific" is not valid.

As if Christian Science wasn't bad enough...

"True science requires experimentation with control groups."

So economics, political science, anthropology, sociology, archeology etc.. are not science? How do you perform control groups in evolution? in quantum physics?

Science is based on obsevation and rational thought, not control groups or experimentation.
Wrong again, Brad.

Economics is not a science. Believing it is doesn't make it one.

Political Science is no more a science than Computer Science. Neither are sciences and both are an abuse of the term science (which explains why computer scientist call themselves "programmers" and "software engineers").

Anthropolgy can be a science if scientific methods are used. It can also be pure theorization.

Sociology can be a science if scientific methods are used (and they sometimes are with sociology).

Archeology is not a science. It is nothing more than a form of study. Tools derived from sciences such as physics and chemistry are important instruments of archeology. Using them makes an ancheoligist no more a scientist than it makes a swimming pool technician a scientist.

Science is overrated and trying to derive legitimacy by invoking its name is little different from the ancients invoking the names of priests to legitimize their claims. Science helps us find good models which, inevitable, are found in contradiction with reality and replaced by better models which eventually follow the same fate. If Marxism were scientific it would, at some time, be found incorrect and replaced with a better theory.

The only places were truth can be found are in mathematics and philosophy.

Good try, Brad, but I place the burden on you. With referring to an authority, prove to us that Marxism is scientific. None of the predictions Marx made have come true. The only places where true revolutions were fought and won is his name were in non-industrial societies (which is where he never predicted them). None of these revolutions accomplished communism. Please explain that while you're at it.

marxism is pretty much totally in line with the so-called western scientific worldview which treats the living communities of the earth as "resources" to be exploited, destroyed and consumed for the benefit of (the managers of) human society.
