TAKE ACTION - WALK OUT!
Walk out to shut down the war machine!
Nearly 2000 US Soldiers and over 100,000 Iraqis have died in this war, a war which is not about terrorism, WMDs or liberating the Iraqi people, but about oil, money, and power. The majority of Americans have turned against the war, and Bush's support is at an all time low. Now is the time for young people to take action to bring this war to an end. On November 2nd, high school, college, and middle school students across the country will walk out as part of this National Day of Action.
Military recruiters are coming after you!
Your school is being used as a recruiting station for the Iraq war. But that's not all: recruiters have your name, number, address, race and income. They target poor youth and people of color, show up at your house, and call you day after day because they get paid to sign you up. Ladies, they want you too - but they won't tell you about the rampant sexism in the military. Not to mention the homophobic discrimination faced by gay and lesbian soldiers. We need to end this racist poverty draft and kick recruiters out of our schools!
Our Lives, Our Voice, Our Power!
Let's send a strong message to President Bush, Congress, and the world that we will not fight and die for this war. The war has cost us nearly $300 billion - a massive debt our generation will carry on our backs for years to come. Meanwhile, Hurricane Katrina victims are not getting enough government help, our classrooms are over-crowded, our books are outdated, and our schools are crumbling. We also face low-paying jobs, few opportunities, and college financial aid is being slashed. We need money for jobs and education, not war!
