Cheers for Black Bloc at Nader Rally
02 Oct 2000
During video footage of A16 (Spank the Bank demonstrations in Washington, D.C.) the crowd cheered at the appearance of the Black Bloc.
At the end of Sunday's rally at the (corporate name) Center in Boston, a video montage was shown while the crowd filtered out of the seating area. The video featured footage throughout Ralph Nader's career, starting with his famous crusade for automobile safety. Many snippets and clips were included varying from news and talk show appearances to an appearance on Saturday Night Live (the entire video backed by a lively techno-beat). The video caught up to date with Nader at the "Spank the Bank" demonstrations and rally on April 16th, 2000 in Washington, D.C., where he was among the speakers at the main rally on the Ellipse. Mixed in with footage of him speaking was footage of the Black Bloc marching and engaging in street actions. At this point the 3,500-4,000 people who stayed to watch the video let out a resounding round of cheers. There we were in Boston, at a Green Party rally, and a few thousand people cheered for the Black Bloc. I have to admit, it was unexpected, but at the same time, reassuring.

green, black & beautiful
02 Oct 2000
boy, i've been kind of worried about schism between green party members and anokists so that (previous message) brings my hopes up.

i hope black bloc kids are present Oct. 3rd in solidarity of those protesting the Debates. Nader's following is relatively small but rock solid, having won live audiences of over 10,000 at least 4 times by now (who even paid to see him)Bush/Gore haven't gotten close to attracting this big a crowd.

Nader would tear BushGore to pieces in a debate, which would probably go down in history as the most exciting one yet

Had the Commision on Pres. Debates not recently changed their criteria (that candidates must get %15 approval in polls instead of %5 to qualify for debate participation), Nader would have qualified for debates (if these rules were in place in '92 would Perot have qualified?!)

Had Nader been getting the media attention he deserves, he would have been doing better than %15 by now

This outrage merrits a massive disruption. mass protests no longer get the media attention they deserve, as we saw w/ RNC, DNC protests

I know Nader is far from the final answer but i'm voting for him because I want Washington DC know how pissed I am. simply not voting doesn't seem to send an alarm in this country, even though over half of all voters didn't vote in last pres. election.

voters/anti voters shouldn't stay divided! we can't afford to let any petty differences get in the way of this struggle. we're all pissed, we all want radical change for the good of humanity and the earth and that's the common ground we share

Video of WTO Protests
02 Oct 2000
Video of the police brutality against the unarmed peaceful protesters in Seattle / WTO was shown early on as well.

I can't imagine that anyone at the Nader rally wouldn't be outraged by what they saw. I was.
