request for witnesses—army on cambridge common
08 Nov 2005
did you witness the early arrests on cambridge common, june 14, 2005, when the army recruited?
After several hearings about the arrests on Cambridge Common during the Army recruitment drive on June 14, 2005, some of us arrested and our lawyers feel we are inexorably heading toward a jury trial. For this we need witnesses. Some have come forward, but we would deeply appreciate more, particularly those observing the arrests of Joe Gerson, Jaime Bissonnette, and myself, Skip schiel.

We were the first arrested, while the police cleared the stage area in preparation for the program.

People willing to offer testimony, either in written form, or possibly later, should this go to trial, can contact me. We need photos also, or video documentation.

Many thanks in advance,

--Skip

What follows is my most recent update, others are on line at http://teeksaphoto.org/RecentPhotos/ArmyCambridgeCommon/index.html

Second update

11.1.05

We, the Cambridge 7, had our third pre-trial hearing on Thursday, October 27, with no conclusions. The prosecution couldn't find the statute under which we'd been arrested, so they dropped that charge and initiated a new one, failure to disperse. Paradoxically, this carries a harsher penalty, some jail time along with a fine. Not guilty your honor. And thus we have another hearing scheduled for December 13, again at the Cambridge District Courthouse in East Cambridge. This to gain more access to city-Army information. Indeed, the mills of the gods do grind slowly.

Our motions of discovery have not yet really unearthed much of value or that is surprising. The city has disclosed some info but it feels to me diluted and shredded, not a true and full rendering of agreements between army and city.

Accept What You Had Coming
08 Nov 2005
I was present on the Cambridge Common on June 14th. I'm a lawyer, my brother was one of the speakers (from the Army) that day. You got what you had coming to. What do you expect when you rush the stage? If i tried to shut down an abortion clinic the way you were trying to shut down the Army B-day celebration, you would be screaming for my head. I thought the Cambridge PD showed incredible restraint. Oh BTW, it was really great when you boo-ed an 11 yr. old who lost his dad. Now, quit whining and go to jail like a good revolutinary.

Like it or not youve been sentenced to death by court dates and paper cuts. I was wondering why you all didnt come over and just take a seat? while you were standing there about to get crushed they panicked and tried to block off all the seats with yellow police tape. it was classic.

Everyone there that was arrested deserves what they got. Harassing a child? All of you should be ashamed of yourselves. Hopefully, the judge will take into consideration the fact that you clowns shamelessly attacked a child. Hats off to the Cambridge PD for the great job and amount of restraint that they showed.
