World Cities Support Cuba
Havana, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) The 12th City Councils Cooperation and Solidarity Conference with Havana is kicking off Tuesday at Havana's International Conference Center, attended by over 400 mayors, vice mayors, councilors and local government officials from 25 nations.

Participants will condemn the US blockade of Cuba, recently rejected by 182 countries at the UN General Assembly, and demand the release of five Cubans unfairly imprisoned in the US for defending their country from terrorist attacks.

Attendees will also analyze the course of new social programs aimed at improving people's quality of life and general education, as well as consider cooperation plans with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The agenda also includes handing over the keys of the city to over 60 foreign figures and a commemorative plaque for the 486th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Villa of San Cristobal de La Habana, to be held on November 16.

Delegates to the event signed letters of intention for city twinning and took part in sessions of People´s Power Assemblies (legislatures) in all 15 municipalities of the capital.

The city council meeting will wind up with a cultural activity for the 486th anniversary of Havana and the traditional Ceiba Ceremony in the city´s historical quarter.
