Introducing Anarchy: A Journal of Desire Armed, #60

Every time an anarchist says, “I believe in democracy,” there is a little fairy somewhere that falls down dead.
After a bit more time in the labratory than hoped for, the second issue of Anarchy coming from the Bay Area Anarchy collective has now hit the newsstands. This issue starts a plan to have more 'thematic' issues. The theme of issue 60 is democracy, with essays by Lawrence Jarach, Monsieur Dupont, Mitchell Halberstadt, and Andy Robinson. There is also a continuation of the history of Anarchy magazine by Jason McQuinn. This issue is filled with exciting content from a wide range of anarchist thought. The Recent Events section includes coverage of the aachen trial in Germany, state repression of anarchists in Italy, Communiques from Italy, and Hurricane Katrina.

In Reviews there are reviews of Crimethinc, Action-Reaction, Guerrilla Warfare, Maurice Brinton's For Worker's Power, The Gruesome Acts of Capitalism, Rebellion in the Borderlands, the Voltairine de Cleyre Reader, and Wobblies!

New columns include the first column by the Oakland Association of Autonomous Astronauts along with "Anarchy and Strategy" by Aragorn!, "Loose Cannons" by Ben Blue, "Anarchy 101" (this issue provided by Bob Black), and another installment to "Embarassments to the Anarchist Milieu" with commentary.

Along with Anarchy's usual series of scandalous letters and an incredible set of new local artists, issue #60 represents an exciting issue for us that we are proud to get into your hands.

Our website has been updated!

The Anarchy website now reflects some of the new content for issue #60. In the near future it will also include more and more of the content from back issues (issue #59 will be up soon). It now offers the ability to have moderated, thoughtful conversation about the most incendiary topics in the issue. For issue #60 be sure to check out these articles:

Subscriptions

We are offering a new way to subscribe to your favorite anarchist periodical Anarchy: A Journal of Desire Armed. Starting with issue 60 we are offering a PDF version of the magazine for download. This will be a great way to check out the magazine if you are an overseas reader. This subsciption will be $10 for 4 issues and will be delivered to your email box or downloadable from our website.

Our subscriptions are still only $16 for 4 issues and we really need to grow our subscription numbers. If you read Anarchy magazine there is not cheaper way to get the magazine delivered to your door than through a subscription. If you shoplift it, only read back issues, or just read the copy that sits in the bathroom see this as a plea to help out a financially strapped project. In order not to rely so heavily on mainstream distribution channels we need more subscribers. Please consider subscribing.
