Bush's Spying: No one is going to charge him so he's...Innocent!!!
27 Dec 2005
Modified: 10:39:23 PM
Congress's inaction has granted Bush carte blanche!
The outcome of the "alledged criminality" of President Bush's authorization of domestic spying is of course already settled - for when no one in the U.S.Govt. is prepared to charge George W.Bush with any kind of crime(s) including spying, then he is in fact "Innocent" plus by weathering tha storm he's also granted himself (and his successors) carte blanche to authorize himself more and greater powers!

Not so fast...

Things may turn out as you suggest, but I believe the outcome you assert is not certain.

Yes, the Attorney General will not charge him with any crimes, after all, he is a member of the Bush Crime family. The Republicans, however, are stuck in a bind. Bush's popularity is now non-existent. He is one of the most unpopular presidents in American history. If they don't do something to remove him, and fast, he dooms any chance they have of retaining the White House in 2008.

The Democrats, on the other hand, would love to see this potential impeachment fester until the next congressional elections when they will take over the House of Representatives and make gains in the Senate (if not take it). For the Democrats, the perfect time to impeach Bush will be right after the next congressional elections, when their Congress takes power (2007). With such a short time to recover from an impeachment, the Republicans will be doomed to losing the Presidency.

So, there are three options:

(1) The Republicans decide to make Bush dictator for life, thus avoiding the next Presidential elections.

(2) Impeach Bush ASAP in order to show themselves worthy of reelection to Congress and to install their next Presidential candidate into the VP position now, so as to gain credibility by 2008.

(3) The Republicans decide not to impeach Bush, hoping everyone will forget about it. Then, in 2006, the Democrats take over congress and impeach Bush in 2007.

These are the options as I see them.
Republicans & Democrats are "in" it together!

dear @: One thing you may be overlooking is that Bush and his Republican cronies didn't gain all the power they now wield without lots of help and outright "criminal conspiracy" from the Democratic Party!
The Democrats could have made a big stink over any number of Bush's heinous "crimes" and pushed, especially in the media, for President Bush's impeachement. But the Democrats glaringly haven't done anything like that.So the big question is why?
To me the leaders of the Republican and Democratic Parties are interchangeable with each other and share exactly the same "greedy-faschist" values, which are shamelessly symbolized and offensively embodied in their collective leader George W.Bush!

p.s. The 2008 elections will have the same validity and be run just as honestly as the last election and both the republicans and democrats will make sure of that!
You're right Brad and I am right too.

I don't question your assessment of the ethics of the Democrats and their class loyalties. However, they are different, not in terms of content, aims, or means but in terms of being two mafias vying for control of the same block. They will impeach one another in the way that one mafia kingpin will send a hitman into the hangout of the other and spray bullets around. It isn't because they're different that they will do this, it is because they are the same.

The leaders of the Democratic Party are "criminally conspiring" with the Bush Republicians because they like and admire the groundwork the Bush Nazis have laid down in creating an omnipotent, faschist dictatorship to replace the vulnerable, antiquated one (by corporate standards) in Washington!
