Does a process exist whereby we, the people, can demand the start of the impeachment process? If not, can we gather signatures and vote Bush out of a political position he did not rightly win?

This is a serious, all-be-it, naive inquiry.

Does there exist a process, by which, we the people, can demand a "re-call" of our current wanna- be -president elect?

Who has the power to start the impeachment process and how do we put pressure on these individuals to initiate such an action?

If, as American citizens, we cannot initiate this process, is there an alternative? Can we gather signatures to have him REMOVED from office? (In essence, vote him out?)

I truly believe it is time to take action and make our voices heard in a way that cannot be silenced with pepper spray. Perhaps this is one viable route?

We need a popular vote recall amendment!
23 Mar 2002
Unfortunately we can not even remove our Senators and Representatives from office other than at election boundaries. If we had a mechanism to recall them directly that would provide a way to encourage them to impeach a president on our behalf.

There has been talk in the press of the need for a constitutional amendment that would allow states to appoint replacement Representatives to deal with mass deaths (e.g. the Clancey novel where a plane crashes into state of the union address, killing most of congress). Currently states can appoint replacement Senators.

If an amendment is proposed I would like to see it include a popular vote recall mechanism for representatives, senators, the president and vice president.
