This man was arrested in SEATTLE five months after he supposedly committed a crime in FAIRFAX at a PETA demonstration, during the Animal Rights Convention, July 3, 2001. He's been held in jail for 3 months, facing five years, based on video footage of him trying to rescue a woman from a man, who later turned out to be a plain clothed police officer, who never identified himself.
How did the authorities track him down in Seattle five months later? He was stopped at night in Seattle and ID'd, having no knowledge that he was wanted for anything. They arrested him on a warrant issued in Fairfax county, VA.
Who are the arresting authorities? How was he identified on video? How can the government track down anyone for supposedly "escaping custody." He was never aware that he was in custody for anything.
Is this a federal offensive against activists around the United States for organizing around animal rights and human rights? This American citizen went to a hearing on Jan 2, 2002 after his family bailed him out in Seattle, and was surprised to learn that a "Governor's Warrant" was issued, which enabled them to keep him in custody for two weeks while awaiting Virginia to extradite him to Fairfax Country adult detention center. He's 24 years old.
Why is this man such a risk? Why is so much state and federal money being spent to contain this man from society? For protecting cats and dogs from abuse at a PETA demo at a Wendys? How is this story related to the concentration of police power to violate citizen's political rights to protect clean water, protect the ecology from land slides and flooding of communities? Jonathan is dedicated to promoting sustainable forestry and educating people about the dangers of allowing uncontrolled consumption of natural resources.
