A 30 minute review of international news and opinions recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast-13.5MB & quick/streaming-3.4MB. With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast upon notification. China, Germany, Netherlands, Cuba, Russia.
Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (April 5) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.5MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (29:40) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired at 7pm PST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you MIGHT be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org/
There are several other streams that work quite well- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm and on Monday at 9am.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR at Fri 9:30PM/ Sat 9:30AM PM/ Sun 9:30AM PST
This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Deutsche Welle, Radio Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From China- the violence in India between Moslems and Hindus continues; the Chinese representitive at the UN calls for Israel to totally withdraw from Palestine; a world review on the Israeli/Palestinian war, including the detention of UN relief workers by the Israeli military.
From Germany- a report on foreign peace activists trying to provide a human shield for Yassar Arafat and other Palestinians under siege in Ramallah.
From Netherlands- the Egyptian govt has suspended all contact with Israel; the Organization of Islamic Nations has unanimously condemned the Israeli attacks on Palestine; synagogues were attacked in France and Brussels over the weekend and heavy security to prevent anti-Semitic attacks is in force in most Euro countries.
From Cuba- world opinion is nearly unanimously opposed to Israel's actions, including charges being brought at the UN Human Rights Commission by Amnesty International, and peace protestors being shot by Israeli troops; Israeli troops have also attacked and prevented international media from witnessing military actions; then a viewpoint on the Israeli occupation.
From Russia- Russia may extend its current ban on importing poultry from the US because of contamination; Tony Blair will be in the US soon to discuss further actions against Iraq, which the majority of British citizens oppose.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.
I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners)
are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
