A 30 minute review of international news and opinions recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast-13.7MB & quick/streaming-3.4MB. With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast upon notification. Netherlands, Germany, Russia, China, Spain and Cuba.
Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (April 12) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.7MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (30:00) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired at 7pm PST this Friday evening at KZYX/Z Philo CA and you MIGHT be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org/
There are several other streams that work quite well- http://members.cruzio.com/~frsc/ Freak Radio Santa Cruz streams this program on Friday at 5:35pm and on Monday at 9am.
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.rinku.zaq.ne.jp/bkaec205/
streaming the SWR at Fri 9:30PM/ Sat 9:30AM PM/ Sun 9:30AM PST
This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice of Russia, China Radio International, Spanish National Radio, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- countries across the Arab world are struggling to contain popular anger against the US and Israel; human rights groups are reporting that Palestinians are being systematically tortured in a special detention camp near Ramallah.
From Germany- the potential success of Sec of State Powell's trip to the middle east is discussed by a legal advisor of Arafat.
From Russia- a report on the problems of nuclear arms reduction, a pact being worked out between the US and Russia, the possible resumption of US nuclear testing undermines this.
From China- China says it totally opposes the proliferation of nuclear weapons in any form; a report on the Israeli/Palestinian war, including Simon Perez's statement that the Janeen battle was "a massacre."
From Spain- in Madrid, the US, UN, Russia and the EU called for the immeadiate withdrawal of Israeli troops; Columbia's ELN rebels say they will resume bombing a US based oil pipeline; in Venezvula, opponents of Pres Chavez continued an offensive against him by leading a national strike.
From Cuba- the general strike in Venezvula was a failure, according to Cuba; the Mexican Senate has refused to authorize a trip to the US by Pres Fox.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.
I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners)
are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
