Anti-G8 Caravan comes to Boston!
12 Apr 2002
Modified: 09:26:16 AM
Join organizers from Canada and Boston to discuss the links between local organizing and global protest. Tuesday April 16
WHAT IS THE G8? How are local struggles affected by global financial decisionmaking?

The G8, or "Group of 8", the world's richest and most powerful governments, will be meeting in Alberta, Canada in June 2002. This secretive and elitist group imposes its neo-liberal economic agenda on the resut of us through its influence on such worthy targets as the WTO, World Bank, and IMF.

Join us for a panel discussion with activists from the Canadian Anti-G8 caravan including Anti-Capitalist Convergence member Jaggi Singh, health care activist Marika Schwandt, and anti-biotech activist Shannon Willmont, as well as local Boston organizers. They will discuss the links between local struggles and the globalization of neo-liberalism touted by the G8.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 16, 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Room 202,Northeastern School of Law, 400 Huntington Ave.

DIRECTIONS:Take Orange Line to Ruggles, or Green Line "E" to Northeastern Stop

The classic strategy employed to neutralize opposition to the criminal status-quo is to divide groups into "leftist extremists" and "nice protestors", ensure that both groups are controlled and divided by little issues, and slander any independent and constructive groups as "LaRouchians", "NAZIs" or some other off-the-shelf label.

What a bore.

If you want to change the status-quo, don't just whine and protest (although that helps). Implement positive, holistic and realistic alternatives that bypass the source of all these endless, destructive symptoms:
