King George Does E-Day in the Daks
21 Apr 2002

President George W. Bush will be in the Adirondacks this Monday, April 22nd to celebrate Earth Day. Perhaps the most anti-environmental President of all time, Bush has proposed gutting the Clean Air Act and replacing it with a market-based "cap and trade" program. Ironically, this will lead to much more acid rain and global warming.
We realize it is short notice, but please consider taking the day off and taking the kids out of school and travelling to the Adirondacks to protest the Bush anti-environmental policies. Time is short and environmentalists are mobilizing quickly.

This Monday, April 22nd. 10am Meet at the Holiday Inn, on Olympic Drive, just off Main street in Lake Placid.
There will then be a caravan to Whiteface Mountain where the protest will begin at 11am. Whiteface is about 10 miles from Lake Placid in the Town of Wilmington on Route 86.
A large tunout out on such short notice will send a very loud message.
Bring signs, banners and other visuals.
Contact the Sierra Club at 518 583 9062 with any questions.

Urge your local reporters to contact Joel Finkelstein with the National Environmental Trust. He is helping to coordinate media. Only reporters should call him at 202 887 1345 or 202 285 0113. Even if you cannot attend, call any pro-environmental reporters you know and have them call Joel Finkelstein.

Please send this on to anyone who might be able to attend.

Happy Earth Day!
