Concerning the news of FBI intelligence failure.
A CIA spokesman said the agency routinely passed on intelligence citing the possibility that al Qaeda might be planning to hijack an airliner as part of a terrorist action against the United States. But a suicide attack involving an aircraft was never envisioned, the spokesman said.

The above is either a lie or ignorance on the part of US intelligence. If a regular guy like me can find links on the internet showing a timeline of events leading up to 9-11 why shouldn't agencies with billions of dollars in resources have put measures in place to thwart 9-11? Note that these articles are before 9-11 and in the case of the Phillipines nearly six years.Myself and hundreds of thousands of citizens are not conspiracy nuts but Americans who are not satisfied with the explanations (or lack of) concerning 9-11 and that it has taken eight months and an accidental finding of FBI notes for action to be taken is unacceptable. There is a terrible truth that is waiting to be uncovered and like it or not it must be revealed to all Americans if this country is to live with freedom and without fear of what it's elected representatives and bureaus may be hiding. This cannot wait for a congressional examination thirty years after the fact as in the case of the Kennedy assasination that a conspiracy was in place. To believe that the American people cannot accept the truth is denigrating to all citizens who have shown their true spirit of giving and acceptance both before and after 9-11.That an administration may collapse will not result in this country falling apart. It did not collapse after Nixon resigned and will not if further examination of 9-11 shows more than an intelligence failure.

Operation Bojinka
With Matthew Brzezinski
Special to The Washington Post

Six years before the Sept. 11 attacks, Philippine police took down an al Qaeda cell in Manila that, among other things, had been plotting to fly explosives-laden planes into the Pentagon -- and possibly some skyscrapers. The CIA knew about the plot, known as Operation Bojinka. So did the FBI. "We told the Americans about the plans to turn planes into flying bombs as far back as 1995," a Philippine inspector says. "Why didn't they pay attention?"

The Manila Times reported that four of the 19 terrorists identified by the FBI as having carried out the World Trade Center attack had been traveling in and out of the Phillipines for at least a year. Phillipine Presidential spokesman Rigoberto Tiglao also stated that Ramzi Youssef, who was convicted in connection with the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, had trained members of Abu Sayyaf -- a Phillipine Islamic extremist group -- in the use of explosives. "Yousef also ran a five-man terrorist cell in Manila in 1995, which he used as a base to manufacture and test bombs he planned to use in a plot to blow up planes bound for the US from Asian cities." Abu Sayyaf reportedly receives funding from Bin Laden, but there is a dispute within the Phillipine government as to whether the connection still exists.

WASHINGTON (AP) - In the weeks before the Sept. 11 attacks, President Bush (news - web sites) was told by U.S. intelligence that Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s terrorist network might hijack American airplanes, prompting the administration to issue a private warning to law-enforcement agencies, the White House acknowledged Wednesday night.

We now know that, back in August, Moussaouiís possessions contained evidence that would expose key elements of the September 11th conspiracy. The FBI didnít search Moussaouiís things because it says it didnít have enough evidence for a search warrant. Critical evidence was in the hands of French intelligence. The FBI says that if that evidence exists, the Bureau never received it. They took him to the Sherburne County jail in Minnesota. The FBI was sure Moussaoui was up to something. They actually discussed whether he was plotting to crash a plane into a building in New York City.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI,

...And the CIA station chief in Italy warned the Italian secret services that al-Qaida, Osama bin Laden's terrorist group, might be planning a suicide attack on the summit. Italy took security precautions seriously and placed Spada surface-to-air missiles at strategic locations around Genoa in the event of a terrorist air attack

But officials said the president and U.S. intelligence did not know that suicide hijackers were plotting to use planes as missiles, as they did against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon

Thursday, May 16, 2002; Page A01 That point was reinforced yesterday by Fleischer, who said at a news briefing yesterday that Bush agreed with Mueller that the memo "in and of itself would not have led to the prevention of the September 11th attacks."

Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.), a member of the Intelligence Committee who has read the memo "several times," said yesterday that the memo "was very explicit in terms of connecting suspected terrorists in the United States with aviation training schools. That should have been a red flag."

Cynthia McKinney called for a wide ranging investigation last month into exactly how the events of Sept. 11 could happen. She wants to know just what went wrong and why. She said "We deserve to know what went wrong on September 11 and why. After all, we hold thorough public inquiries into rail disasters, plane crashes, and even natural disasters in order to understand what happened and to prevent them from happening again or minimizing the tragic effects when they do".

Since that time, she has been attacked from every direction, called every name in the book, been threatened, you name it. Anyone asking these questions is treated like they wear tinfoil under their hats to keep the alien brainwaves out. McKinney has been called a traitor and terrorist, been accused of being backed by Muslims, and is the subject of death threats. Ari Fleischer got in on the act when he said "All I can tell you is the congresswoman must be running for the hall of fame of the
Grassy Knoll Society."

Interesting that eight months after others already knew, some "progre$$ives" jump on the bandwagon and present obsolete and misguiding information as if it's a breaking expose.

Bush is guilty of criminal negligence and plenty of other crimes, but others within "our" government are guilty of planning and coordinating the 9-11 attack.

Why does Paul Wolfowitz's name go unmentioned?
