I should note here that the stange old men carrying "free Palestine" banners did more harm to the protest than good, and I think this discussion list reflects why. The issue at hand was 1. a speech issue and then 2. an issue of hegemony and NOT whether Israel should be in Palestine. The organizers did not mean to bring up the occupation issue and if those RCP fuckers had any idea what they were doing, they would have contacted us to find out. It is a touchy subject at Brandeis, and slogan-chanting didn't change a single mind, rather it associated free speech activists with anti-Zionists, deterring our message. If you see any of those vanguardist bastards, tell them Brandeis says, "Thanks a lot YOU IDIOT FUCKING LOSERS." Pathetic. And if they come back here without having a little tact next time, we'll beat them with every Chinese history book that confirms that Mao was a fucking murderer. |
