Somerville Bicycle Activists needed (english)
01 Dec 2002
The Somerville Bicycle Committee needs a few committed bicycle activists to make things happen in the city. Applicants are now being sought for the city appointed committee. If you like bikes, please consider helping us make Somerville a great place to bike.

The City of Somerville is accepting applications for appointment to the Somerville Bicycle Committee. Cyclists of all ages are encouraged to apply.

The Somerville Bicycle Committee, working closely with city staff and local agencies, plays an active role in making the city more bike-friendly, such as reviewing major development and roadway plans; producing a bike route map of the city; planning for more bike racks; working on education materials for schools; writing comprehensive bicycle traffic regulations; and promoting safe and responsible bicycle riding. Membership of the Committee includes residents, and representatives from the business community and city departments

Applicants should be enthusiastic cyclists who live in Somerville, can attend monthly meetings, and work on projects. The Bicycle Committee meets every fourth Tuesday of the month, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Meetings are open to the public.

Letters of application, explaining your interest in bicycling and the Bicycle Committee, should be sent by December 13, 2002 to Jeff Levine, Office of Housing and Community Development, Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA 02143. Please include your postal address, email address, and phone number. Appointments are for two years. For more information, contact the Committee at 617-625-6600, x2503, or email: sbc (at)
