Sexually repressed, eh? (english)
10 Dec 2002
I think we need to examine our society a little more carefully before we call ourselves "sexually repressed." We live in a society that prescribes whole-heartedly to the cult of the individual. Anything that is part of serving the wants of the individual is sacralized. Thus anything consumable is sacralized. We're a society that believes that we should have all the sex we want (in any form we can get it), and that anyone that deprives us of it is a heartless tyrant. The repression myth is a tool to get us out there and consume more sex. "We're not healthy because we're sexually repressed." That's the type of thing that is driving the purchase of this catalogue, and other more "hard-core" pornography. It is also the very thing that is causing us to begin treating the human being as a sex object and a utility. What we see is not the beautiful person, but the failure to be the sex god or goddess we see in the magazine. I apologize if this comes off a bit harsh. I'm just sick of looking at the women around me and not finding them attractive because I wish they were supermodels.
