FASTING FOR PEACE
In Barcelona (SPAIN), at "Sant Jaume" square.
From December 31st 2002 at noon to January 2nd 2003 at noon.

The undersigned people,
that belong to diverse social backgrounds, in the light of a foreseeable military invasion to Iraq,
knowing that the motivation for the war is the rapture of Middle Eastern goods,
and thus, we consider it illegitimate, illegal and immoral,
that it will cause hundreds of thousands of innocent victims,
knowing that we are many people against it,
and knowing also that the invasion is decided, but it is also avoidable if the public opinion raises its voice with energy,

We bring support to the FASTING FOR PEACE that will be held at "Sant Jaume" square in Barcelona. It is a symbolic act precisely during this Christmas and New Year's Eve days, that aims to say to the people in Irak that they are not alone, that we want to be in solidarity with their suffering,

We invite you to join it, to multiply all kind of actions of protest or to repeat this same action of fasting from each suburb, location, city, entity or group, to make public your protest.

We ask to public authorities -local, national o state- and to the heads of all institutions -civic entities, political parties, trade unions, NGOs, religious institutions, professional schools, etc.- that they promote actions and declarations against the war.

Barcelona, December 2002.
