Modified: 14 Jan 2003
a new web site urges you to go to D.C. on 1/18 and stop this blasted war! oh, and it doubles as an expose on A.N.S.W.E.R., the group that organized the march.
a new web site urges you to go to D.C. on 1/18 and stop this blasted war! what's more, you get the inside scoop on the march's organizers at:

you heard us!

for a limited time (well, not really), get the scoop on A.N.S.W.E.R.'s bad track record with other groups, their fondness for-- you guessed it-- genocidal dictators, and their naughty, naughty authoritarian ways. sheesh!

so don't forget to check out:

p.s. let's stop this blasted war!

hmmm (english)

hmmmm....if it looks like COINTELPRO, sounds like COINTELPRO, smells like COINTELPRO...
What's cointelpro about it? (english)
14 Jan 2003
Looks pretty straightforward to me. Most of what they post are links to the WWP's own writings, they acknowledge that ANSWER are good at mobilizing lots of people, and they urge people to go to DC on the 18th. They even link to Z magazine's condemnation of liberal journalists who call ANSWER out. Last time I checked, giving people all the info and letting them decide themselves wasn't exactly a police tactic. If you look at what cointelpro actually did, they weren't honest or competent. I'm for movement unity, but not at the expense of independent thought. ANSWER charges people for signs, for god's sake.
Relax, It's not pork, just Chuck. (english)
14 Jan 2003
Relax kids, it's not a nasty attempt by the Office of Total Information Awareness, FBI, CIA, or NSA to spam the IMC network. Just good ole Chuck O from indulging his slightly pathological obsession with ANSWER and the IAC.

See, it's likely that 200,000 or so folks will arrive on Chuck's doorstep in DC next Saturday - including many from Boston - and he's not too happy with that for several reasons...including the propensity for out of town organizers to steamroll the locals..a chronic problem for DC activists with ANSWER. Add to this equation a hefty dose of organizational envy, since Chuck's one person project/website - - has been tireless in promoting the annual IMF-WF mobilizations in DC in the hopes of helping to spark a 'Seattle on the Potomoc' convergence with less than stellar results. This was particuarly apparent after 9-11 when priorities for progressives rapidly shifted to the war abroad and repression at home.

Add to this the confusion, frustration and disorientation that the rest of global justice and anarchist movement as a whole is experiencing right now in relating to the burgeoning anti-war movement, and you get the picture.

However Chuck's biggest gripe actually seems to be with the infarious ideological influence of the Marxist left, (particuarly the infamous WWP)on the unsuspecting masses. (of course, this assumes that the masses aren't clever enough to make up their own minds) Never mind the fact that no one group can claim credit or own the anti-war movement, or even begin to claim to do so, (something ANSWER, for all the accusations made against it,has never actually done) The idea of actually outorganizing his ideological competitors has yet to sink in. Sour grapes are a lot easier to press than innovative or creative alternatives for action, and require a lot less work.

(For instance, why not a mass convergence on the UN in NYC on January 27, - the day Blix will present his report to the Security Council and Negroponte will be eagerly scurry about soliciting a rubberstamp endorsement for immediate military action while surrounded by every corporate news camera in the fucking world. This may literally be the last chance to materally act against the warmakers before the bombs begin to drop. ANSWER would never contemplate such a bold move or has so often been pointed out, think outside of the box. But anarchists and other direct action advocates would. True, little time remains, but the response in the street might be actually be immense.)

Carlo Tresca is an authoritarian communist who lives in New York City.

He asks why anarchists don't plan a protest in NYC for January 27th.

They are!

Duh! What a dumbshit.
