Military Recruiting (english)

Direct action at military recruiting sites
Though this idea is a throwback from the 60's (the Yippies always did it), we are trying to organize to have people to "unrecruit" kids as they go to enlist in different branches of the military. We could talk to the ones that haven't already signed up and try to talk them out of signing up. And for the ones that have already enlisted, we can tell them how they can get out of it. I have talked to several kids who have enlisted recently (but have not went to boot camp yet) and some of them want to get out of it. But, they were told by their recruiters that they could not, because they already signed the contract and had been sworn in. But, this is not true. Once one gets to boot camp, they will be sworn in again. And even once they are there, they are allowed to leave. But, recruiters don't let the new enlistees know this. Anyways, anybody interested in helping with this or anybody that has any suggestions, please e-mail me at agendaless (at) hotmail.com. I realize that this is not what most people consider "direct action," but, I have not seen much of any direct action in boston. So, this could be a start.

Yes, this is great! We should always be doing this, not just during a war. You should get materials and definitely talk with someone from War Resisters League -- http://warresisters.org/ -- because they have tons of info and even videos about why you shouldn't enlist.

And they can definitely help people when the recruiter say they're already committed. They can still get out of it.

Here's the WRL contacts for Massachusetts:

And here's a link to a PDF format flier that you can print out: http://warresisters.org/Not_Just_a_Job.pdf

Direct action gets the goods.

There was indeed a roadblock during yesterday's morning rush hour -- read about it in the newswire from yesterday. Hopefully there will be more of these, maybe more on Thursday in concert with the NYC day of action. Decentralized small actions by small affinity groups. Don't get arrested, be smart.
