Please Don't Feed the Trolls
Wikipedia defines an Internet Troll as: "An Internet troll is either a person who sends messages on the Internet hoping to entice other users into angry or fruitless responses, or a message sent by such a person." Boston IMC strives to provide both a grassroots media resource as well as a forum for people to contribute to a meaningful discussion about local issues. Please, when posting comments, be respectful of others and ignore those trying to interrupt or discourage meaningful discourse. Thank you.

police equipment & badges - classified? (english) |

I spoke recently with two individuals in the Boston Police Department, in an attempt to do some research about the equipment used to protect officers during a demonstrations. The officers I spoke with would only tell me that they carried batons and wore helmets - the rest was classified information. (This frustrated me a great deal - after all, whose tax money pays for this equipment?)
I also asked specifically about badges and identity concealment. Every official I spoke with assured me that all Boston police are required to display their badge & badge number at all times while on-duty. It is evident from the observations of activists and marchers that even at peaceful demonstrations, this does not occur.
If anyone else has any information about police equipment, and/or officers concealing their identity in various manners, I'd appreciate a response. |
