War over? What to do now? No problem... (english)

In the Bush regime’s game plan for world domination, Iraq is merely a steppingstone to a larger presence in the Gulf region and elsewhere.

Now that the Bush regime’s blitzkrieg has come and gone and Iraq is “liberated”, some anti-war activists may be wondering what to do now. No problem: the war for this empire is never over! Witness this exchange from the Whitehouse, rendered in Sunday’s Boston Globe:

“Shortly after Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld issued a stark warning to Iran and Syria last week, declaring that any ‘hostile acts’ they committed on behalf of Iraq might prompt severe consequences, one of President Bush’s closest aides stepped into the Oval Office to warn him that his unpredictable defense secretary had just raised the specter of a broader confrontation. Mr. Bush smiled a moment at the latest example of Mr. Rumsfeld’s brazenness, recalled the aide. Then he said one word – ‘good’ – and went back to work.”

The invasion of Iraq, as most people know, was not just about oil, it certainly wasn’t about “liberation”, but it was very much about empire. In the Bush regime’s game plan for world domination, Iraq is merely a steppingstone to a larger presence in the Gulf region and elsewhere. As most Indymedia readers are aware, the far-right think tank, Project for the New American Century, came out with a blueprint for Pax Americana in the year 2000, titled: Rebuilding Americas Defenses in which Bush regime neo-conservative operatives laid out there scheme to literally rule the planet. Welcome to the 21st century. Guess who wants to run it!

The anti-war movement in the U.S. and across the globe barely needs to shift gears in its struggle for peace and justice. As the emperor and his handlers have said ever since September 11, 2001, the war will go on for a very long time. However, as most of us know, “terrorism” is not the object of this endless war. Note that the regime’s game plan was written long before planes flew into the Pentagon and the World Trade Center. The endless war is about endless expansion of The Empire. It requires an endless peace and justice movement to counter the inherent injustice of world domination. That’s where you come in.

Blah, blah, blah. Keep grasping for excuses to criticize the government. No one wants to build an empire. Only time will tell if your theory is correct, but I sincerely doubt it.
No need to build an empire... (english)

... when there is already effectively an empire. Can you really look at the world system today and not see that U.S. capital and political elite has dominance in much of the world, including economic dominance and overwhelming control over the major economic and political institutions of world government?
