Freedom for the political prisoners from Atenco!
02 Jun 2006
Halt growing government repression by the PAN, PRI and PRD!
Freedom for the political prisoners from Atenco!
By: Liga de Trabajadores por el Socialismo May 5, 2006

Two months before the presidential elections, the Fox government,
with support from the PRI and PRD, has decided to discipline sectors
of workers who are dissatisfied with this "democratic" transition
which exclusively favors the rich, and are mobilizing to fight
for their rights. Thus, the Michoacán state police, run by PRD
governor Cárdenas, and the PFP, federal preventive police, attacked
miners occupying the SICARTSA enterprise and killed 2 workers. In
Atenco, the municipal, state and federal police launched a brutal
repression in which 207 people were arrested, including Ignacio
Valle, leader of the Frente en Defensa de la Tierra, and one 14 year
old youth was killed. Among those arrested are men, women and
children; female comrades who were arrested have accused the police
of beating them (as reported on television) and raping them. In
addition, the government has announced the transfer of Ignacio Valle
to the high security prison at Almoloyita. Dozens of students,
rural workers and local inhabitants have disappeared, and the PFP has
taken control of the entire town. The savage repression orchestrated
by the government and the bosses' parties (PRI, PAN, PRD), shows the
lack of democracy and anti-worker, anti-popular character of this
regime of rule by alternating parties, as seen in the police and
military occupation of San Salvador Atenco, during the epoch when the
PRI ruled Mexico.

In response to brutal repression by government and the political
parties, the broadest unity of all the workers, poor rural workers
and popular sectors is essential for stopping the attack and freeing
the imprisoned comrades. "The other campaign" has called for a
national mobilization for May 5, and a national assembly of
solidarity for Saturday, May 6. We must promote and strengthen this
call, by attracting the big unions and workers' organizations.
The union organizations, especially the SME, CNTE and the Frente
Nacional por la Autonomía y la Unidad Sindical, should join this
action plan and urgently call for a national strike to curb the
repression and anti-worker policies of the regime of rule by
alternating parties, and to express active solidarity with all the
comrades of Atenco, against this government which murders workers and
rural workers. Meetings that have taken place with hundreds of
comrades and blockades, are the primary means to strengthen the
struggle,by organizing ourselves in every workplace, every school,
every department, every factory, and every district. We call on all
union, political and human rights organizations to join the
mobilization in support of the comrades from Atenco and to unite
their forces against this ferocious attack.

Immediate release of all political prisoners!
Release comrade Ignacio Valle and his comrades from imprisonment!
Halt all persecution against activists and political and popular
organizations!
PFP [federal police] and repressive organs, get out of Atenco!
Government, bring those who have disappeared back alive!
For a national mobilization to curb the repression!
For a national strike now, called by the SME, CNTE and FNAUS!
Punish those guilty of the murder of the two SICARTSA workers and the
comrade in San Salvador Atenco!

what's up with the nakedness- was that a reference to the rapes and all that?

"... there have been marches in the street of Mexico City every day by an organisation called the 400 pueblos, and it is led by women of all ages, stark naked but for plastic masks over their faces, and they are followed by men in their underwear, seemingly all indigenous, with banners and placards naming the disappeared and murdered, rapes and killings of women, and demanding respect, and observation of their rights. "

were these taken with a digital or analog camera?

These were taken on a shitty point and click 35mm. I cropped them on my computer.

and last but not least, i knew hugo had a lot of skills but gringo dentistry is a new one on me, haaaahahaha!

I actually did get an abcessed tooth while down there and the Amoxicillin I needed only cost 36 pesos. At 11.2 pesos to the dollar, the meds cost less than my usual co-payment.

I understand the struggle for freedom is very important.
I also understand how Mexico is essentially a facist dictatorship which uses democracy as a facade.

But Marxism is not the answer. Marxism is responsible for murder and terror worldwide. Lenin and Trotskey and Mao are not heros.

If you think that Marxism will solve your problems then your problems will not get solved.

Why does Marxism fail everywhere it is tried? Because it is a lie that they are able to do away with the difference between the wealthy and the unwealthy. What always happens is a dictatorship where party membership becomes the 'upper class' and everyone else is a slave to the system.

Rule of law breaks down.
Then the killing (murder) of dessenting individuals who dare to speak up.

Then the 'leader' declaring himself ruller for life (Did not Hugo Chavez do this lately)

And just so you know, the Marxist government will allow 'free expression' for a while. This allows them to make a list of who they want to put in jail, who they want to shoot in the head.

It is a popular misconception to think that the answer to facism is Marxism. This does not succeed.

And so, while I support the idea of equality for all peoples in the areas where they can be equal, Marxism never does this. Marxism allows willful and brutal organized gangs to sieze control and then create a monopoly of power while they crush anyone who is not part of their gang.

This is just a description of what has happened in Russia, China, Venezuala, Cuba, (insert name of any country that went Marxist here).

Don't be fools! Don't be Marxists. Marxism/Communism is the politics of envy. It is the road to social slavery for anyone who is not in the communist party.

Hey,

I'm an artist/journalist and I'm leaving for Mexico very soon. I was hoping that you could help me because I am interested in creating a mini-documentary about the Other Campaign. I'm going to be there covering elections and I will be in Mexico city- I've looked on Narco News and a few other websites to see what protests and stuff are going on- but it hasn't given me much. Are there any good resources on the web that I could find?

Thanks and solidarity with the victims of Atenco.
