NAGASAKI NIGHTMARE - Paintings by Atom Bomb Survivors (english)
02 Aug 2003
Modified: 03 Aug 2003
August 2003 marks the 58th Anniversary of the Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Those who survived the blasts became known as hibakusha (Atom Bomb Survivors). Many hibakusha have created Paintings and Drawings based on their experiences that vividly illustrate the horrors of Atomic fire.
Yamashita Masato created the Painting displayed on this page, based on what he saw at Hiroshima. In his own words he wrote: "The charred body of a child about 4 or 5 years of age lies on the bank of the Army Nishi Parade ground on August 9, his arms raised to the sky." Mr. Yamashita was 20 years old in 1945.

You can see an entire online exhibition of these profound artworks at the Art For A Change website:

Does anyone know where I can download a copy of the 16mm video showing the aftermath at hiroshima?

all that I've been able to find are the airforce videos of the explosions.
