Directions to Wachusett Tree Sit Area (english)
07 Aug 2003

Pretty easy to find and here is a map with X marks the spot.
Pretty easy to find and here is a map with X marks the spot.
Easy hike in from almost any direction, but read the note below. I hiked in from the East, about mid-way between the gravel road (Bullock) that is above the grotesque "ski lodge" (actually looks more like whore house architecture) and the upper paved road (Summit?) that goes around to the top. I would call this mid-lower slope. I hiked through the trees and across the ski slopes. The mountain is loaded with hiking trails and animal paths. I walked above the Bullock Lodge and then West across the next cleared ski slope and into the next area of woods and there they were, way up in some huge oak trees that looked to be 150 to 200 years old.

GPS coordinates are approx. 42 29.946N, 071 53.236W. I will upload a scan of the free park map with an X in the area of the sit.

Get the map at the Visitor Center and check out the Old Growth display where DEM tells you how special the mountain is and how rare the habitat is and how you should stay on the trails to protect the mountain, while in the back room they are laughing at the idiots who believe their propaganda while they make more plans to rape the mountain side. Obviously Wachusett Mountain Reservation is “reserved” for a single private family to use for whatever purpose they want with full support from the bunch of whores at DEM. You know they must be planning the water slides and summer amusement-theme park right now for the next, next expansion. All I can say is DEM, you have CANCER of the SOUL. I'm glad your agency is being killed after more than 100 years of mis-managing the public's land. You deserve to die and be quickly forgotten, once the smell goes away.

Note: From my personal experience, I would not go back alone. I had a very negative interaction with the "Police" at the resort parking lot. I would say don't go there, even though it is obviously a public place. These cops (one flashed me his Princeton badge) were fat, ugly, and horny for a hippy to beat up. I don't have a bad attitude about cops, but these guys acted as if they were thugs hired by the resort. They were unprofessional, constantly using the f-word, yelling at me using provocative names, trying to get me to do something so they could kick my ass.

Very sad to see public servants so abusing their power and creating just the kind of interaction that makes people distrust and hate all cops. It was like they had stepped right out of a bad hollywood movie about corrupt cops. I better understand why cops have the highest suicide rate of any profession. All I could keep thinking while they did their stupid act was -wow, it must really suck to be you.

Clarification on above rant (english)
08 Aug 2003
I want to clarify the above Note section. I encourage everyone to go to Wachusett, just don't go alone. I would stay away from the lodge unless you have a reason to go there and plan on interacting with the Crowley's thugs (the police).

master of disguises (english)

A good way to avoid altercations with the cops is to sort of dress up. Wear a golf shirt and hiking shorts. If you have dreads, hide them under a hat. You'll be much more likely to get by unnoticed.
sexist language (english)

I appreciate the information you shared about visiting the tree-sitting site, but not the sexist language, i.e. "whorehouse" (what DOES a whorehouse look like, anyway?!) and "whore." While I get the points you were making, these words are insulting to women and their roles in society.
