News ::
how can AP wire justify ignoring the London Protests? (english)
20 Nov 2003
Modified: 09:25:13 PM
the largest protest in the history of the United Kingdom occurs and the AP Newswire has not a single WORD !!!
isn't the fact that AP Wire Service doesn't even mention the massive throngs of more than 100,000 people taking the streets of London not only shameful, but unprofessional, and stinking of complicity?

WE DEMAND TO KNOW WHO IS VETTING THE NEWS!!!!!!

This disgusting and ridiculous fascism must stop!!!!!!

Tell me that the massed thousands Toppling the Statue of George W. Bush in Trafalgar Square is NOT news!

The AP coverage (english)
20 Nov 2003
For those unfamiliar with the way the AP and other wires work, they put out a few dispatches per day for even big events. They do not do a whole new story every hour, or more often. There's no reason to believe that they would release a story between 2:49pm and 4:05pm. Many big American news sites were, in fact, using AP stories about the Bush protest on their front pages today; these stories were sometimes several hours old, but that's how it is.

The AP had plenty of coverage; they released stories at:

7:02am
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20031120/ap_on_re_eu/b

11:57am
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20031120/ap_on_re_eu/b

6:26pm
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20031120/ap_on_re_eu/b

They had lots of photos, too:
