Briton Working as Private Security Guard Is Shot Dead in Kabul
Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) -- A Briton working in Afghanistan as a guard for a security company was shot dead in the capital, Kabul, the Foreign Office in London said.

The Foreign Office didn't identify the man or his employer in the e-mailed statement today. Agence France-Presse said he worked for London-based ArmorGroup International Plc. There was no immediate response to a telephone message left at the company's London offices.

ArmorGroup, whose chairman is former U.K. Defence Secretary Malcolm Rifkind, provides protection for companies including BP Plc and international peace and security organizations such as the United Nations. It has won contracts this year to guard the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria and U.K. government sites in Afghanistan.

The company employs 9,000 people and operates in 38 countries.
