Israel cannot exist within International Law. |

If Israel were to obey international law – right of return, pull back to ’67 borders, end the 500,000 occupation of West Bank and siege of Gaza - it would cease to exist as a Jewish state. |
|
It could pull back to the ’67 borders and end the siege of Gaza and survive but it won’t do that.
It is too racist and greedy.
So this intolerable situation will continue till the next major war breaks out.
As The Versailles Treaty caused the Second World War – so the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians in 1948 will cause the next major World War. |

The Palestinian question |

What's to be done, then?
Concerning your premise, I care less about whether Israel is legitimate and more about our ingrained support for atrocities committed against innocent people and their children.
It seems to me a we need a lot of consciousness raising on the Left In America to counter the zionist pressures that prevent us from developing a clear understanding of what is going on over there.
Liberals need to understand that you can't apply a religious, political or class analysis to military occupation. Occupation is a material imbalance. You're either in solidarity or you're not.
Anti-zionism needs to enter the public discourse as well; it can't be politically incorrect to critize occupation and apartheid.
Let's draw new lines in the sand. |

Poisoned by the media |

So many of these naive appologists for the Palestinians have been poisoned by the media into beleiving the fabulous tall tales told by the Palestinians without ever reading up non their own or engaging in independent thought. The US media thrives on disseminating violent bloody images ("if it bleeds, it leads") bu7t without ever explaining how then Palestinians' actions and choices over the years have caused their own situation. Meanwhile, the "Always blame Israel" crowd seems far more attached to their treasured myths than actual history, facts, and reality. Simply, if you know the name "Rachel Corrie" but have NEVER heard of "Marla Bennett", then you too are a victim of media poisoning. |
