Twenty years ago, a miracle happened when the Cold War ended peacefully. We were handed the chance to walk away from the nuclear nightmare and redirect billions of Cold War dollars to neglected needs at home. |

The U.S. spends over $500 billion a year on military operations — more than any country in the world. But does this really make us secure? Experts Jo Comerford of the National Priorities Project, and Miriam Pemberton from the Institute for Policy Studies will explore this question and talk about how we can move from a military economy toward one that prioritizes human needs. |

Ever since war brings trauma and fear to all of us. The blood that flows in the street, the corps of every civilian, rebels, terrorists and military armies who lose their lives for reasons that depicts selfishness and uncertainty. I believe that even our state spend billions of dollars and apply for secured loans for war and terrorist’s weapons – the lives that have been sacrifice is not enough to guarantee the safeness of all civilians and people who participate in the war. I feel sorry for those people who losses a child, father, mother, brother, sister and friend because of war. There are these questions that I keep on asking, when will the war ends? Do we need more lives to sacrifice for it to end? Why not just use this war funds to sustain our economic recovery for the benefit of all? Well, I think no one will give me definite answers from all of these queries. |
