Call for 15th October "Occupation Sarajevo"

okupirajmo.jpg

This is a call by JOSD (Unified Organization for Socialism and Democracy) to Sarajevans who are dissatisfied with the economic order, ruined industries, and unemployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On Saturday 15th October, "we will occupy Sarajevo." The group urges citizens to join the protests in support of and solidarity with actions the against Wall Street, which are being organized in many countries around the world.

by T. Sekulic

On the fifteenth of October around the world will be protests called Occupys, the goal of which is to express dissatisfaction with neo-liberal capitalism [which has brought about] the world economic crisis.

JOSD announces a protest in Sarajevo at 12 noon on the plaza in front of the BBI Center [a large banking and commercial complex].

Forums and debates will be held before the protest, and then will be a peaceful walk to the Central Bank, ending in a protest in front of Sarajevo Cathedral.

As the protest organizers pointed out, they want to send demands to all legislators in BiH for immediate regulation of the commercial banks and reforms in the financial sector.

Also sought is the opening of the state sector banks, progressive taxation, state and entity subsidies to agriculture, relief from bureaucratic arbitrariness, and increase in minimum wages and pensions, as well as freedom of trade union action and workers' autonomy.

Otherwise JOSD, as its members say, is a revolutionary anti-capitalist organization [that will put itself] behind the replacement of capitalism by revolution. Thank you very much.

And here's what they're hearing from us: "Is a general strike in the works in the US?" We wish. (It's in BCS, but just invoke the google translate at the second link below to get the gist.)
