Fri30th DNC2RNC ~ Stop Seaboard Corporation
24 Jul 2004
We're taking the fight against corporate control back to the doorsteps of Seaboard Corporation in Brookline. Join us as part of the walk from Boston Common on Friday, July 30th @ 9am.

This purposeful near invisibility has allowed Seaboard and the Bresky family to be able to avoid scrutiny in the Boston area, despite major demonstrations in Argentina and an international campaign against Seaboard that has included Greenpeace, the Sierra Club and Friends of the Earth. In the land of fat cats and global exploiter, Bresky should stand-out among other Boston area capitalists, but Seaboard Corporation and the Bresky family have remained unnoticed by many Boston area activists

FRIDAY, JULY 30TH
RALLY ~ STOP SEABOARD
822 BOYLSTON ST (RT. 9) BROOKLINE

MEETING POINTS FOR MARCH & RALLY:
9 AM BOSTON COMMON (FOR DNC2RNC MARCH)
OR
1:30 PM @ Seaboard Corporation
822 BOYLSTON STREET, BROOKLINE

NEAR TO Brigham and Women's Physician Group

The July 30th demonstration is part of a 258-mile march from the Democratic National Convention to the Republican National Convention in New York City. The focus of the march is to connect diverse grassroots movements and re-center political structures around people and the environment, rather than corporate agendas. The purpose of the Seaboard action is to expose Newton resident H. Harry Bresky, who receives $2 million as CEO, and to reveal links between the Democratic Party and exploitative, multinational corporations such as Seaboard. The action has been organized at the request of the Ava Guarani from N. Argentina, who have been struggling to regain their agricultural land, which was stolen from them and now possessed by the Tabacal sugar refinery, a subsidiary of Seaboard Corporation.

“The sugar company is stained with blood. Now is the time to return and fight for our land,” a fiery Sivlia Cañanima of the Ava Guaraní exclaimed. “Our Guaraní brothers and sisters, though far away, are here with us, and our ancestors are here as well, giving us their blessings. We will continue this struggle tirelessly, until we can return to our ancestral land.”

The Seaboard Corporation story stands out in the world of capitalist profiteering and abuses. Bresky is unique even among the top national corporate elite given that he also owns nearly 75% of Seaboard Corporation. From relatively unassuming offices at 822 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill, he presides over an multinational empire with over 50 subsidiaries that stretch the globe from Argentina to the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Bulgaria and the U.S. with $2 billion in yearly revenues.
