Gripe about "live" coverage. |
Great that you have all this streaming audio -- but
so far I've heard no live coverage. Aren't there___
"correspondents" running around with recorders,____
interviewing people, etc. and running back to put
this stuff on? Actual live feed stuff too?_________
___________________________________________________
I just heard someone announce technical____________
difficulties. Is that what it is?
All the testing should have been done the week_____
before the convention -- not during it.
Sorry I say this, but hey -- that's feedback. |

Please Don't Feed the Trolls
Wikipedia defines an Internet Troll as: "An Internet troll is either a person who sends messages on the Internet hoping to entice other users into angry or fruitless responses, or a message sent by such a person." Boston IMC strives to provide both a grassroots media resource as well as a forum for people to contribute to a meaningful discussion about local issues. Please, when posting comments, be respectful of others and ignore those trying to interrupt or discourage meaningful discourse. Thank you.

There were some technical difficulties earlier. I think they're fixed now (although the tech is way over my head). Right now we're most playing music, because there isn't much to report. The Really, Really Democratic Bazaar is happening all afternoon and the Billionaires for Bush march is this evening and that's it for today. |

All technical difficulties were resolved by early this afternoon, we've had some live reports, but by and large people just aren't calling in.
It's really only a couple people who are involved with radio, and with security culture a lot of people don't want to go say much to us.
Your feedback is appreciated, but your time and efforts volunteering would be even more appreciated.

Dear C. Gringo,
If you're in Boston (or in the northeast and can get to B'ton), you could help provide some coverage by calling in from the street with news, or perhaps you could volunteer to digitize some of the interviews that come in from the street so's they can get streamed.
FYI, the Boston IMC doesn't have a regular physical space, and they just got into the spaces they are using. Many of the volunteers that might have helped to set up and test equipment weren't in town last week. I think the Boston IMC crew has done an amazing job preparing for the Social Forum and demonstrations, especially considering they don't have a regular space and have never hosted a major convergence before. I may be wrong, but this might also be the first time they are webcasting. (I remember the first time the Atl IMC webcasted also, it wasn't perfect, but we learned a lot, and we wouldn't have learned if someone from out of town hadn't come to a demonstration to help out!)
Feedback is always healthy and helpful, but yours seemed a little pointed and negative. Don't be harshin'.
Way to go Boston IMC! Keep up the good work! |
