Boston FBI Field Office Faked "Anarchist Threats" to DNC (Auc 2 Article)

BOSTON FBI APPRENTLY SPREAD FABRICATED REPORTS ABOUT "DANGEROUS DOMESTIC GROUPS" THAT NEWSPAPERS LIKE THE BOSTON HERALD REPEATED

(What is this, 1905? Are the authorities really this inept that they have to make things up while ignoring real threats from other sources? What about the mafia? What about wife beating?)

I read this article in the metro today, thought it might be of some interest:

Newspaper: FBI faked threats to DNC

Boston: Threats by white supremacist groups readying an attack against media vehicles during last week's Democratic National Convention were apparently faked by the Boston FBI field office, the Village Voice reported.

According to a CNN story July 23, the Boston FBI office had "unconfirmed information" that "a domestic group plans to attack media vehicles." ABC News reported that a group of college-age people in the Midwest was the basis for the FBI warning.

But the Village Voice said the leaked report that the grups, including Volksfront, were being investigated by the Boston Joint Terrorism Task Force was "unconfirmed" by an FBI agent.

Mark Potok, an editor with Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks extremist groups, told the Southerner Daily News blog, "There was no suggestion whatsoever of any violence, let alone violence against media trucks. We follow these groups quite closely."
