NH Indymedia Celebrates One Year on the Web
10 Aug 2004
In August 2004, the New Hampshire Independent Media Collective (NH-IMC) will celebrate one year of grassroots media coverage in the Granite State.
Our next open meeting is August 9th in Portsmouth.

New Hampshire Indymedia has been up and running for one year this August. With continued and increased coverage on local events, we can help influence social change not only in New Hampshire, but all over the world.

Thanks to all who have contributed this past year with reports, commentaries, photos, audio, film and art. Our Tech Team has been phenomenal in maintaining and upgrading the site, as well as patiently answering many questions on how to use the site. A few months ago we began printing two pages of Independent Media News (local, national & international stories) in the NH Gazette. Thank you to Steve Fowle, editor in chief, and the entire Gazette team for their support and encouragement. Additional thanks to UNH Peace and Justice League, Protect Animals NH, Seacoast Peace Response, NH Peace Action, Joe Public Films, Clean Water Action, Save Our Groundwater, Portsmouth Community Radio and the Seacoast Alliance for Democracy for being out there and being active in our community, and for supporting our efforts.

Recently, networking with other Indymedia Centers has resulted in working relationships with the Boston and New York City teams to help improve our print media and to obtain much needed equipment. Further, a big thanks goes to the Maine Indymedia site for hosting our website - we would not be where we are today without their assistance.

There is still much work to be done. If you would like to get involved, please consider attending our next open meeting on August 9, 2004, 7 p.m. in Portsmouth, NH at The Button Factory (directions below). We need volunteers to help spread the word around the state to local grassroots organizations & individuals to encourage use of the site for posting news, events, protest activity, and so on, both as an educational tool and a networking medium. There are many ways to contribute in strengthening grassroots based media! Join the Media Revolution!

General Open Meetings are currently held the second Monday of each month. Directions to the August meeting is in Portsmouth: 855 Islington Street, take exit 3 off of Route 95 and follow the signs to Portsmouth. After the RR bridge and across the street from the cemetery, turn left onto Islington St. go about one mile and turn left at Tony’s Appliance Store on to Frenchman’s Lane (directly across the street from Fleet Bank in the Pic’N’Pay / Hannaford shopping plaza). We are meeting in studio 321, third floor. Future meeting places to be announced on the site.
