Police Arrest 250 in NYC for Critical Mass
28 Aug 2004
The New York IMC is reporting massive arrests during an incredibly vibrant and huge critical mass ride that wound around the city. At one point the ride was reportedly 45 blocks long with estimates of anywhere between 5,000 and 10,000 bicyclists participating. Police created barricades in an attempt to break the ride up, and after trapping smaller sections of the ride, arrested hundreds and loaded them onto city busses.

Arrestee's with I.D.'s will be processed and released, those without I.D.'s will be taken to the Tombs, an infamous NYC jail and holding center.

Despite the large number of arrests IMC reporters in New York are emphasizing the positive, as they should. Critical Mass has once again empowered thousands to take back the streets from the metal behemoth bloody-oil powered automobile.

New York Police seem to be setting a dangerously aggressive tone for the beginning of what all participants are hoping will be a peaceful protest, another report stated that they were charging bicyclists and striking them with batons. At the scene of arrests near St. Marks place in the East Village several local bar patrons came out onto the street and joined in chanting "Let them go! Let them go! No police state!" It is apparent that New York City overwhelmingly supports the protestors. If things do get out of hand at the RNC demonstrations, and we sincerely hope that they do not, this aggressive tactic of arresting peaceful protestors by the NYPD will be remembered as one of the most insensitive, unthoughtful, and downright stupid pieces of misinformed strategy ever to contemplated by a police force faced with a large demonstration.

Watch Tuesday's march. Cripple, blind, poor, elderly and unemployed will march to Madison Square Gardens. And present Bush with an arrest warrant.
Will the cops arrest these people?
Will they show their true colors?
We'll see...

Yes! The Cops will arrest anyone that does not conform to the rules, regulations and laws surrounding the RNC activity as stated by the city of NY , the State of New York and the United States Of America.

Be advised that anyone aiding or abeiting scofflaws before or after the fact are also subject to arrest. If anyone you are present when a 3 percenter (only 3 percent of the Protestors on average are trouble makers) breaks the law my advice to you is to distance your self from that person. I am not telling you to make a citizens arrest (required only when a felony ,ex: kicking someone is commited) as required by any civilized society. Just avoid the persons commiting crimes and do not encourage the continued criminal act directly.

Yes the Cops will show their "True colors" To keep peace and order in the streets of New York. Any who create disorder will be controlled by all lawfull means available to the security force. Make sure ya'll use only lawfull means to get your message out to the public and media. Do not tresspass on private property (you know how you felt when FBI came to your door so don't violate anyone elses property.)

OBEY the orders of all law enforcement officers. If the officers are violating your rights as case law (not your opinion) states then you do not have an obligation to obey. Just do what they say and sue the city/officer later and enjoy the money. Be very carefull in determining what is a violation of your rights.

I have heard that the joint police force has a very unique method of dealing with masked protestors that will result in great pain but no long term disability.

You all have a message to get out so concentrate on your message and not the defense of those being arrested or you will be arrested as well.

Bob,
I really doubt if they'll arrest any cripple, blind, poor or for that matter nuns and clergy.
The cops have been screwed on their contracts for years. The mayor isn't offering them shit for raises.
And Bob...YOU can kiss my ass!
