Russia Becomes Another Huge Capitalist Dictatorship
13 Sep 2004
Russia is now (like China and Saudi Arabia) a huge politically centralized capitalist economic system.

As of today, Russia is now (along with China and Saudi Arabia) a politically centralized dictatorship with a free market economic system. Putin has consolidated absolute power in the name of fighting terrorism by Chechan seperatists.

Nice to know that the guy you vote for to be president can declare himself emperor under the right pretext if ordinary people do not resist his consolidation of power over time, isnt it?

Russia's opposition is now "helpless" (and nobody on either side is disputing this.) Politicians are now appointed by government forces that are already in power, there is no independant national television press, no independant parliament, no independant judiciary, no nothing.

But Russia is still an economically capitalist, free market economy. Remember that, folks. They have money based on market and not government motions, they have a rich and powerful capitalist ruling class and a powerless working class, the economy relies on supply and demand and not set prices, retail stores and not lines for government distributed products, etc, etc. It's a pure expression of capitalist government... with tanks to back it up. Lots and lots of tanks.

This new dictatorship is not even "Soviet Style"... it is 'Banana Republic Style': a Dictatorship for the Rich.

Yes, but when has Russia ever had a good government? Never.
