Something is going on with IndyMedia.
19 Oct 2004
First the FBI takes two servers and brings them back. Next...
Since the servers were returned, many unconnected individuals using IMCs have been reporting attempted computer system intrusions. These intrusions imply knowledge of IP address usage of IndyMedia users or active monitoring of access to IMC sites. Since I changed ISPs, I have not been attacked so I assume these attacks are based on datamining of those disks.

Additionally, the main IMC website ( is currently blank and many others seem to be dog slow in loading. Are DoS attacks underway on the servers?

Perhaps the FBI was interested in the servers in order to study vulnerablities and to select intrusion targets.

The main IMC site seems to be working now. All the sites go down occasionally, I would imagine for maintenance reasons or something.

New York and Boston sites are slow due to heavy traffic. Neither IMC, or any other that I am aware of, tracks IP addresses. WE simply do not have that information, so it may be that your IP was found through some other site.

Another note, it is not a good idea to discuss what is happening online when an indymedia site does not work for you. Especially if it is coming up with something weird. There is speculation that this is an attempt to find your ISP through some sort of triangulation. I.E. if your getting this message you must be at this ISP, that message at that ISP and so on. So, to be safe, don't dicuss what you see on your screen when an Indymedia site goes down online or elsewhere.
