Witnesses Cite Angry Fenway Cops
23 Oct 2004
Modified: 03:03:25 AM
A thorough review of witness statements from the night of Victoria Snelgrove's murder at Fenway Park indicates that cops reacted with vengeful rage when a horse was started by a thrown bottle or can.
I have reviewed many witness statements and reviewed video coverage from the events of late Wednesday night. It is clear that this is what happened when Victoria Snelgrove was murdered:

Heavily armed police were stationed in an area where celebrants were truly celebrating: High fives, cheers, hugs, no burning cars, no destruction of property at all. Several celebrants had climbed the wall of Fenway Park and were standing on a ledge about 10-12 feet above the ground cheering. One video I saw clearly shows a young guy cheering and happy, his arms above his head in a victory salute, being shot in the solar plexus and knocked from the ledge totally unaware that a gun had been pointed at him. He flew forward in a "belly flop" motion to hit the pavement below. Several people are still in serious condition in the hospital, and he may be one of them.

Victoria and her group of friends were standing across the street from the wall, on the sidewalk (out of the way of the police, or so it was thought), when someone threw a can or bottle in the air (more exhuberant celebration) and when it landed, it startled a horse with a police mounted atop. The cop standing next to this horse immediately swiveled in the direction he thought the bottle had come from and fired off several rounds at head level at the crowd, without any warning at all.

Witnesses say the police in this area were repeatedly over-reacting, behaving very aggressively in what was, in this area, a non-destructive, celebratory atmosphere.

Clearly Menino and O'Toole know who this testosterone-fueled, short-fused, enraged killer is. Two police are now on "trauma leave". Certainly one is the cop who fired off the rounds that killed Victoria Snelgrove. I do not know if he is the same one who shot the young guy off the wall.

This cop should be charged with murder IMMEDIATELY. Yes a review of weapons is needed, but as important is that this enraged criminal killer cop (and the others who committed assault with a deadly weapon) be CHARGED. An "acknowledgement of responsibility" is not enough! Would any other murderer get away with that? "Yes, your honor, I lost my temper and shot off a few rounds at the crowd, I admit that. Oops, sorry." Pat on the ahead, good boy, you can go home now. NO WAY!!! The police must be held responsible for their actions!

i am a civilian legally entitled to carry a gun where i live. i would expect the same level of responsibility from the police as is expected of me when i am armed in a public place, and if they do not act responsibly that they be held responsible for their actions before the law just as i would be.

There was no Violence on landsdowne st until the cops came. hundreds of people where actually leaving voluntarily concerned about midterms and class in the morning The real punks on brookline ave that destroyed public works vehicles right in front to of 20 special operations police were never shot at. they were destructive they were roudy. Why then was it necessary to shoot at people on another street nowhere near the destructive crowd who posed no threat of disorderly conduct. My suggestion is to use Bullhorns to let people know that you want them to move and give them fair warning that you are going to use "Less than lethal force" but maybe I am asking to much from those who serve and protect. To the officer that shot Victoria in your protective helmet with face shield and your body armor was it really nececary to rataliate at a recceding crowd with revenge in your heart, for an empty plastic bottle being thrown in nowhere near you.
I saw your comrades in arms they where aiming at the legs of the people in the crowd.Your comrades aimed at the legs of the crowd because they where excersising common sense however little. I doubt there where any terrorist in the crowd mostly overjoyed kids some. There were some clowns out there but they are not the ones with the injuries. Snellgrove was rendered unconcious at about 2:00am the car was set on fire at 2:30 after the brutall curfew attempt was imposed If you want to talk cause and effect fans angry after being shot with no warning could possibly have lit the fire. Mennino Has tainted knoledge of the nights events. Cops after the fire were witinessed clearing the scene of the fire with more brutal force. The cops told people to leave the area and as they turned around and walked away as instructed they were beat in the behind and legs forcing the crowed into frenzied running to get away.

Why is n't the shooter in jail yet??? Or O'Toole, since she takes "full responsibility". The shooter cop should be in jail for manslaughter, for a long time.
Those assault weopons are NEVER to be fired above waist level, ever. Wow, talk about misuse of an assault weopon!
When will these swine stop killing kids???

The police are not at fault. Young people are turning into animals and feel they can act any way they wish without consequence. Throwing cans and bottles at police are viewed as celebrating and having a good time?! This incident was horribly tragic but an ACCIDENT! After reading the comments left by these college students, it is clear they should have been home studying instead of at a game, killing more brain cells with alcohol. LEARN TO SPELL!

i agree with you 100%...that cop is a murderer. He will go home at night, and i guess his comment, "oops, sorry" should comfort Tories parents and good friends (such as myself) in the horrible truth that she will never again walk into her home again because this cop decided to act like a "tough guy". Clearly if he knew his job, or knew how to use the weapon...he'd point it someplace OTHER THAN HER HEAD!!!

and to the former comment from Lauren.... pretend it was your best friend that died for one second. You wouldn't be saying it was an accident. What if you were her best friend celebrating right next to her? Think about it....
ps. was my spelling okay?
