From Pete Stidman on http://boston.indymedia.org/newswire/display/31309/index.php

"However, there are such things as journalism ethics and it is important to check the facts. One of the reasons indymedia has not spread even wider, faster is because the stories appearing on it have not acquired the trust of the public.

We've talked about doing more fact-checking and we do have a editor's clause for misinformation allowing us to remove offending articles, but even with the will to do it we do not have the peoplepower to handle the work.

Instead we are starting up workshops like the fact-checkig one this weekend and a more general journalism one coming up soon.

Oh- and we make a big distinction between comments and articles. Comments get alot more leeway. "

Well, as I see it you do ZERO fact checking. You are activly monitoring this newswire and are very fast at removing articles and comments that are "counter to mission" or "policy violation" and yet you allow several OBVIOUSLY false articles to remain on here.

What am I talking about?

Well, http://boston.indymedia.org/newswire/display/31358/index.php
News :: Globalization : Human Rights : International : Politics
BREAKING NEWS.....Canadian authorities have arrested US president George W. Bush in Ottawa with War Crimes. This is obviously blatently false, but still remains as News on here.

Also, http://boston.indymedia.org/newswire/display/31282/index.php
News :: Politics
Nunavut Defense Forces Block Attempt on Bush. This too is fiction but yet it is published on the Boston IMC "newswire"

Now you may say "so what?"

The "What" is the fact that other credible news outlets rely on "newsfeeds" (rss) from trusted sources. It appears that The Economist believes Boston-IMC is a trusted feed, and you feed them this crap?

A well known anarchist is now gloating that one of his "stories" made it onto The Economist and he did it by using Boston_IMC.

You wonder why IMC is not a trusted news source?

This work is in the public domain

Illogical

Getting the Economist to link to Boston IMC could only spread IndyMedia wider. So, what's the problem? Political satire is as old as politics.
Expecting logic from a cop is like expecting a dissertation from a slug.

Before they are hired, cops are given an IQ test. If they fail, they get the job.
No proof is necessary.

Old trick, Harry. Keep it up and we'll name a mental illness after you.
It's like my job.

After seeing the same KOBE shit for a couple of years, names are no longer needed.
