Boston J20 Collaberation
23 Dec 2004
Modified: 10:32:18 AM
For those of us who wish to attend the J20 protest in Washington D.C. but are not able to there will be a protest in Boston. If you are able to go I strongly urge you to do so.
January 20th, Bush will be coronated into office. There will doubtless be thousands of protesters in the streets. For those of us who want to do something about an asshole like Bush being in office it is time to organize. It is time to change. It is time to protest.

January 20th at 1 we will be meeting in Boston Commons. From there we will march to the State House. The Boston Commons is easily accesible by the green line. If there are any question please post them and I will do my best to answer

is this permitted?
who organized this?
where on the Common?
what sort of protest (somber, angry, civil disobedience)?
Boston Common is accessible from the Park Street T stop on the red and green line, or by nearby Downtown Crossing orange line stop, or South station commuter rail stop.

If I can get to DC, would I be most needed there or in Boston?

If there is nothing local (Conencticut) then I will do my best to be in Boston. I too wish to know who is organizing this and how to keep abreast of developments.

There will be a much larger protest on the 22nd, a weekend, organized by the folks who did the last big one in Boston (no, not answer or UJP). Support both.

alright so what do people think about having a meeting to organize for events in Boston?
I'm thinking a large permitted event with smaller decentralized direct action. Also, I don't think we should have some random march around the city, but rather target the war profiteers such as Halliburton, Bechtel, and more. I'll repost if I find some local offices. Otherwise, we should protest outside the above-mentioned state house or in government center.
Is our goal going to be:
putting pressure on companies, govt.
getting our opinion out
or being disruptive and demanding attention, such as an unpermitted march where people shop?

Government center and the state house i dont htink are good places. we should go federal since thats who we are against. or how about kerry's house? the problem with the saturday is that there will be no one at any of the offices. Bechtel is working on the BigDig and that always gets media attention so that could be an idea
few more interesting places

This is an excellent idea. Due to my age, I wasn't able to vote this idiot out of office, but appearantly those able to vote couldn't aswell. I do think everyone tried their hardest. I am feeling a bit useless with this protesting deal. I live in Pennsylvania, too far away from Boston, and Washington DC when I cant even drive. I was wondering, what could I do around my community to help as much as possible? I know I'm only one person, but if everyone who does not agree with our president did something about it instead of sitting around and complaining, CHANGE may result. You suggestions would be greatly appretiated.
"Different Bush same shit."

this is not a permitted event. as we are rebelling against authority i dont think you should have to ask for authority's permission to rebel against it. however there will be a permitted protest january 22nd if Im correct. the protest will moboize the same place in the commons as the last protest organized by the student group did. A student anarchy group is organizing it. I have taken all your ideas as to different places into considerization. If we sould decide to march elsewhere then we should still mobolize in the commons as its easily accessible to many people. Hope to see you there!
