GUARDIAN SCOOPS TODAY'S ATTACK ON AFGHANISTAN - US PAPERS MUM
30 Sep 2001
Modified: 01 Oct 2001
Corporate Press (Guardian UK) --" US and Britain to strike terror camps within days"
Attacks limited to targets found by special forces From www.guardian.uk Sunday September 30, 2001
"Devastating attacks on bases controlled by Osama bin Laden are set to be launched in the next 48 hours as part of a tightly focused military operation approved by US President George Bush and backed by Britain."
Here's a link to an article in the Sunday 9/30 Guardian, announcing that the US and UK
are about attack sites in Afghanistan. The attacks could begin 9/30.

Today's New York Times and Boston Globe are full of calls-to-war. But in the WW2 style
of Loose Lips Sink Ships, they don't report this key story that must be well known worldwide.

In short - the Guardian's propaganda line seems to be slightly more textured with facts than the US line.

The Boston Globe has a nice text banner "AMERICA PREPARES" on many of its articles.
Prepares for what? How about: AMERICA PREPARES YOUR MIND SO LISTEN UP

Sorry about overhyped article title
01 Oct 2001
Sorry about the overhyped "today's attack" in my article title. My basic point was that the US press is self-censoring to the point of absurdity. So we may read about the new "cold war" first in the London Times, or learn the likely timing of military strikes from the Guardian.

If you've found some useful press resources, etc, please add comments to this article.

By the way, the Sunday Globe had an interesting article (by pundit David Shribman among others) announcing the death or paralysis of the Global Justice movement. The don't seem to understand that the movement is global. Several local activists were interviewed and probably misunderstood by the authors.
