Ford Foundation Funds Democracy Now Productions
18 Apr 2005
Besides being funded by the Glaser Progress Foundation of Clear Channel/Air America Radio CEO Rob Glaser and by the Lannan Foundation, Democracy Now is also being funded by the Ford Foundation
The Militaristic U.S. Establishment's Ford Foundation apparently continues to invest its multi-billion dollar unscreened stock portfolio in U.S. war stock and transnational corporations that exploit consumers and working-class people around the globe. The grant money that is derived from the Ford Foundation's investment activity is also apparently being used to fund Norman Solomon's Institute for Public Accuracy and Amy Goodman's Democracy Now Productions, Inc. alternative media groups.
In 2004, for instance, the Ford Foundation gave a $200,000 grant to Norman Solomon's Institute for Public Accuracy for "general support," according to the Ford Foundation's website. The Ford Foundation website also revealed that in 2004 a grant of $150,000 was apparently also given by the Ford Foundation to Amy Goodman's Democracy Now Productions Inc. "to produce, broadcast and distribute a series of radio, television and Internet reports on the media reform movement in the United States."

In 2003, DN also profited from a gift of Exxonmobil stock and Amazon dot com stock (it is in the DN form 990 report, available at guidestar.org). After the Amazon gift, DN added a direct link to Amazon on its website.

Since this posting, DN has removed its form 990 from the Guidestar website. This is a public document, so anybody interested should be able to get a copy from DN or Pacifica.

It's back on Guidestar now.

My best regards to your company!

We are situated in Vanadzor, Republic of Armenia.
We have TV and FM Radio.
As, we are regional, our income is too weak.We have also a newspaper which does not have regular edition. We have founded new TV and FM radio company. If you help us we can increase the number of working people.
Our development is very slowly.
I would like to know if you can help our company.
Our company has some ideas, good projects. If you support us , be sure that with you we can do a great job.
Especially we need TV&R finance, techniques, some special advice /tvr-journalists, cameramen, management.../.

Samvel Haroutunian
general director of "LORU MIG" TV&R Company.
