Converge on Cambridge City Council
20 Jun 2005
Boston Mobilization is encourages people concerned about the arrest of 7 peace demonstrators on Tue. 6/14, to attend CCC meeting 6/20 5:30 pm.
Pursuant to the arrest of Mr. Gerson et. al., Boston Mobilization (aka Mobe) sent out a very nice html enable e-mail to it's mailing list. I would upload it here, but I'm unclear how they feel about "structure".[ Besides I have to go back and protect Harvard's Cabot Library.] Their website is:

http://www.bostonmobilization.org/

My chronicle of the tue. invasion of the Common is at:

http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/fensterm/

[I'll figure out how to embed html on this sucker sometime.]

Thanks to jonny rebellious for his pics of the arrest. Anybody have pics of the helicopter/

The council chambers were standing room only and there was a large crowd chatting it up in the hall way. I suspected the government had a way to temper they wrath of people who had been violated on the common and betrayed by the council. It was the process. Comments on the citys US army celebration were mixed in with speakers about the rat infestation, crub modification, skating rink funding, and park access. Some of the arrested spoke and there was a "late order" that was put to vote i think but almost everybody had left by then.
In retrospect we could have had a press conference on the cith hall steps before or durring the meeting to get TV then had everyone sign up to speak togeather in one long block to gain momentum and coverage of our firey wrath.
The irony was that mixed in with people blasting the government for fascism were parents pushing for a program that ligitimized violence in color coded compitition for kids and that it was in a community whos waste supported colonies of parasites.

Dear Mr. There,

I was also there. I am a Cambridge alum, living in Dorchester. I was hassled on the Common on Tuesday and I spoke about it. ["Mr. Mayor, what were you thinking?"] The Mayor made a lengthy rebuttal, but he will not get the last word. Trust me. Stay tuned to Indy Media. And thanks to Kathy and/or Nancy Info for filling in the details I forgot.
