July 17 Planning Meeting for Massive Fall Demo and March in Boston
12 Jul 2005
Our Next Planning Meeting:

Sunday, July 17th, 4:00 PM

Phillips Brooks House
Parlor Room, First Floor
(in Harvard Yard near the Science Center)>
Harvard University
(Harvard Stop on the Red Line T)
Millions now realize that the occupation of Iraq has nothing to do with
defending our safety or security at home or abroad. There is massive opposition
to the war throughout the region and throughout the country. However, the
brutal occupation continues with no end in sight. Since the invasion, over 100,000
Iraqis have been killed and many more have been wounded. The death toll of US
forces iswell over 1700 with thousands more wounded. Hundreds of thousands of our
youth have been asked to serve as an instrument of domination including torture
and abuse under the orders of a war machine in Washington that demands "hard duty" in
the service of the drive for profits and Empire.

The challenge before us is to unite, plan, and then mobilize our opposition
into a strong mass movement. All too often activists are caught trying to meet
deadlines for actions without having enough time to plan effectively and include the
broadest array of forces out there opposed to the war.

The March 20, 2005 rally at Boston Common showed that the anti war movement
could unite and mobilize together effectively. We united to build an action, for
immediate withdrawal of U.S troops, that anyone in the anti war majority of
the country could support: youth, working men and women, veterans, soldiers, families,
communities of color, immigrants, seniors, and trade unionists.

We need another local action like in March, but this one should be a massive
demonstration in the streets. A legal and peaceful march establishing a safe and
inclusive environment. This right was denied us by the decision of the City of Boston to deny a
permit for a street action on March 20th.

Plans are being made to initiate a call for a mass protest this fall against
the war. This initiative came out of a process of discussion of what to do
next after the March 20, 2005 rally on Boston Common, including at a
conferenceheld at Roxbury Community College on April 23rd, 2005. This conference
proposed an action for late October or early November. The date being considered at
this point is October 29th or possibly November 5th. It is important that we
recover the right to march against the war in the streets of Boston, which was
denied us on March 20th. We encourage anti war organizations and individuals in the
Boston area, those that built March 20 and others, to discuss the best date
fora local fall action and to begin a broad based planning process.

According to Donald Rumsfeld the war could last as long as 12 more years.

How much longer can we allow the destruction of Iraq and its people to rage
on?

How many more soldiers will die in a war that was a lie from start to
finish?

How many more billions of our tax dollars will be drained into a war for the
purpose of making Iraq a virtual colony?

How many more billions will be looted from vital social needs such as jobs,
education, and health care or libraries, firehouses, child care, elder care, or social
security?

massive eh?

you leftists and your endless fantasies of mass!
wouldn't you just LOVE to replace capital with another monolith YOU could control?
Re: July 17 Planning Meeting for Massive Fall Demo and March in Boston
13 Jul 2005
Anarchists are strongly encouraged to build this demo.
There is plenty of room for you at the table.
We are seeking to pull together the broadest array of forcrs for one day in the fall to protest this seemingly endless war.

Enough bullshit red-baiting. How about building something?
broadest eh?
13 Jul 2005
oh so you want us to be the militant anarchist pawns in your marxist coalition? nice try! we remember kronstadt. go manage somebody else's struggle!
fucked up anarchist
13 Jul 2005
This "Committee for a Fall Action" is initiating an open and seemingly democratic process. Anarchists interested in attending this demo should participate in the planning. How else will our concerns from the March 20 demo be addressed in building this next action? If anarchists don't want to argue our points at a table with other movement groups then we shouldn't be surprised when this action isn't to our liking.

It's great that you stupid anarchists split the movement and talk like cops. It wouldn't suprise me if you were paid off by them.

Kronstadt,

Kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt. Kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt. Kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt. Kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt kronstadt.

Always with the fucking Kronstadt.

You're living way, way ,way in the past. Always looking for reasons to divide.

Never mind all the counless times in recent history reds and anarchists have worked together on various issues.

Will you tell the guard at Gitmo that you won't share a cell with a commie?

...I can live in the past too. The Paris Commune. Marxists, Jacobins, Proudhonists, followers of Bakunin and Blanqui - All killed together and buried (sometimes alive) in mass graves. This is the unity that the system will find for us if we don't unite ourselves.

Let's live in the future
Re: July 17 Planning Meeting for Massive Fall Demo and March in Boston
13 Jul 2005
Would you say that we are responsible for it?

Yes, both responsible and complicit. The whole of French (read - American) society is resonsible for the Algerian (read - Iraq) war, and for the way it is being conducted - torture, internment camps, etc. - the whole of society, INCLUDING THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE NEVER STOPPED PROTESTING AGAINST IT. We are inextricably involved: the slightest discussion between the left-wing groups who were gradually assassinating each other had the effect of encouraging torture, or a putsch.
Settle down, Beavis
13 Jul 2005
Thank you for inviting all to attend the meeting. I wish people could settle their differences in person rather than on the computer because most people in real life are pretty tame. Plus you got to see exactly who you are dealing with and snap judgements can be more witty and painful.
Also words determining what political theories one believes in are dead and have lost all meaning because of over usage and of wrong context.
Classifying is so boorish.
Question
13 Jul 2005
If there is a rally, can it be short? And can it not be a laundry list of socialist groups leaders (or token black members?)

And ya. The past is the past, and I don't hold Communists (not communists, but big C leninists) for past atrocities. I do hold them responsible for subscribing to an ideology that in the future will reassert and reperpetutate such atrocities.
I'll Be There w/My Friends
14 Jul 2005
Can't we all live together? That's the question to all anti-war, anti-bush, anti-halliburton and others! We have to show our masses to the MSM.
Remember. Two heads are better than one. Ideas from everyone helps. Either you're with us? Or with the warmongers and sleepwalkers!
Let's end all these occupations.
Re: July 17 Planning Meeting for Massive Fall Demo and March in Boston
14 Jul 2005
I have to agree with MK here. We Anarchists (myself included) are very quick to criticize the way leftist and liberal groups have organized rallies in the past. But here is an open invitation for the democratic planning of a large, anti-war protest. So if we're sick of long, boring rallies, then we owe it to ourselves to go and make sure that activists wanting to protest the war dont have to sit through 4 hours of planned speeches before getting to use their own voices. This protest will happen with our without our presence at the meetings, so we might as well at least offer our imput.
Re: July 17 Planning Meeting for Massive Fall Demo and March in Boston
14 Jul 2005
The July 17 meeting will discuss possible dates for a march in Boston against the war, with permit, to be organized by a coalition similar to the March 20 coalition, i.e., broadly representative. The April 23 conference decided to advocate for a Boston march this fall of the kind that can attract new people, families, and so forth. It is hoped that the meeting can unite people who were at the conference, and people who were not, on a practical plan of action based on a similar perspective on what needs to be done.

Not so sure "fuckin anarchist" is legit. Be cautious about taking bait on these boards.
agreement with Ms.Albert
14 Jul 2005
Why do people watch and complain about what is going on?
why do they cry that they hate Bush and this war? Do you care about the bleeding crowds around the country around the world.
It is now your fucking time to go to these meetings take a stand and help fight againt US Imperialism. Its time to Show bush that you have a voice. Its time to let him see how the percentage of people who are against the war really look when they come together in solidarity against him and his menions.
This will be MASSIVE...people are sick of the brutality and the bullshit. Now you have to decide just how much you care because whether you admit it or not everyone is affected by this in one way or the other.
Solidarity to the end
Re: July 17 Planning Meeting for Massive Fall Demo and March in Boston
14 Jul 2005
"We have to show our masses to the MSM."

It's exactly that attitude why (A)'s don't work with liberals and dinosaur leftists. And if Bush is so evil, why would he care how many people march?
Re: July 17 Planning Meeting for Massive Fall Demo and March in Boston
16 Jul 2005
Why fight about this? The communists will be there, the anarchists will be there, the socialists, greens and liberals will be there. Let's just try to get something done, and we can bitch about what happens after the revolution some other time.

Is the left's definition of "Mass" any number LESS THAN 500 ?
