Candle-light vigil at Boston Common in solidarity with Cindy
15 Aug 2005
Modified: 09:03:47 AM
Unreported by the local mainstream media, a peace rally was held on the Boston Common Saturday night, Aug. 13. Individuals and representatives of United for Justice and Peace, Military Families Speak Out and Veterans for Peace...as well as many other peace organization.....gathered there to express our support for the outrage the bereaved mother of a piece of cannon fodder to Bush, and a beloved son to Cindy, is expressing toward our corrupt federal government.

With signs from all 5 years of our protest against the actions of this illegally placed president, new and old faces gathered on the Common Saturday night. With us were the ghosts of all the many brave citizens of this 'experiement in democracy' who have stood fast against the corruption of the government, and the willing complicity of the undereducated peasants among us.

Some speakers came directly from the Bush enclave of Crawford, Texas where they have been camped out for a week, seeking audience with the king. Now, amidst shotgun blasts from the neighbor......among whose land they are NOT trespassing.....they live among the locusts, drenching rain and heat of the Texas sun. We heard from other mothers of sons, and a daughter of a 53 year old woman now stationed in Iraq. Not willing to desert, they are trapped amidst stop-loss orders.
These sitting ducks in unprotected trucks, unlike the multi-armored vehicle Rumsfeld rides in, are the president's sacrifices to the god of war and oil. We gathered to protest this atrocity, and to show our support for the sacrifices the hundreds of protesters are showing in Texas.
"We Shall Overcome" was sung, reminding me once again that we STILL have no protest song of our own.....5 years into the struggle against this dictator/war criminal/treasury thief.

As we stood around the Frog Pond at twilight, our candles reflecting in the pool, I was reminded of the Bible verse: "Where 2 are gathered in my name, there am I also." from the Jesus I worship as a great man, made more godlike from the fact that he was a 'mere mortal', not a god. But he stood for truth and the immutable laws of Nature, as do all of us who stand forth against much less than the crucifixion he endured.
One of those laws is the law of karma: Violence begets violence. He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword, or in James Baldwin's words "The fire next time". #file_1#

It doesn't make any sense to post something two days after the event.

I'm sure she is still sick with grief and not knowing what she is doing. My heart goes out to her and all the brave men and women who are serving their country proudly.
God Bless Our Troops!

The Herald did cover itt.
Cindy Sheehan is NOT speaking out against Israel.

The fact that Drudge spread lies about this is documented here and in other venues:

The Israel issue was thrown in by the rightwing so that trolls could come to places like this and turn people against Cindy.
