Counter-Recruitment demonstrators shot with Tasers, bitten by dogs

08/21/2005

Today in Oakland in front of the Army Recruiting Center on Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh Police and University of Pittsburgh Police fought with protestors on the sidewalk. At least six people were arrested; police fired tasers and other weapons at the crowd, including restrained arrestees and bystanders.

During the rally at the station, a freelance Fox News cameraman who was aggressively filming demonstrators' faces was told to leave and started a minor confrontation with protestors. He returned with police officers, claiming that either he was punched or that his camera was broken (although he continued to use his camera the rest of the day). Witnesses confirm that neither of these things happened. On this pretense, police began chasing any masked protestors they could find, arresting several and firing weapons at the crowd. Several people have confirmed that they were hit with tasers and chemical weapons. Video cameras captured tasers being fired at people who had already been subdued and restrained by police officers.

Later, police dogs were used to chase away protestors on the sidewalk, and one woman was bitten from behind by a police dog. Some time later, after telling police she wanted to file a complaint, she was told the police would "take her information," but instead she was arrested and placed in the back of a police van.

That's pretty funny. Trying to file a complaint against the cops and telling the cops about it.

WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!! They've got you where they want you; fat, stupid, and lazy.

1) That picture does not depict a fight between protesters and police. It depicts a criminal being apprehended.

2) You don't have the right to wear a mask and have a confrontation with the police.

hey i found out that oakland is a part of pittsburgh!

and pax, that is a picture of a criminal apprehending an innocent civilian. we have the right to assemble without being set up by asshole Fox News cameramen and without being tazered by police. and to wear masks if that's what floats our boat.

If you want to weak masks then go to Mardi Gras. Wearing a bandanna while protesting is stating your intention to commit crime as an unidentifiable member of the mass. When will you learn -- If you want to be part of a faceless mob then when it is time for the mob to be punished you will be cut off from it and punished as an individual.

You DO have a right to peaceably assemble.
You DO NOT have the right to wear a bandit's mask and wait for a mass outbreak of violence to occur.
We, the people, DO have a right to imprison you for that.

ok pax, we have freedom of expression, which means we have the right to choose what apparel we wear, and that can be included. the cops and uneducated folks like yourself just assume that if we wear masks we automaticly are intent on commiting a crime. wearing a mask is so that they can't single one of us out and open a file on us. it's to keep anonymous. it's also, as i see it, so we don't have any leaders.

although it is of course easier to get stuff done when you are not wearing a mask and not attracting the attention of the police.
The Masks We Wear
24 Aug 2005
Let's pretend you were noah when you said that masks are apparel. Lets Imagine that your all had masks that said "FCUK CAPITALISM." That would be some funny apparel.

Anyway, the cops could always arrest you with your mask on. Taking your stupid idea even further, if the US becomes the mexican utopia you desire it to be, the police will be wearing black ski masks. Then you can pretend to be a Zapatista.

Now wouldn't that be fun!

it was kinda a hyperbole to get my point across that we have a right to wear what we want.
