22/8:The Jeffrey Luers Story
30 Aug 2005
Modified: 01:20:11 PM
Special Free Screening
Hosted by the Boston Anarchist Black Cross
Wednesday, September 14th, 7pm
At the Lucy Parsons Center
549 Columbus Ave (in the South End)

In June 2001, 23 year-old forest defense activist Jeffrey "Free" Luers was sentenced to 22 years and 8 months in prison for the burning of three SUV's. To make a statement about global warming, Jeff set the fire at a Eugene, Oregon car dealership. No one was hurt in this action nor was that the intent. Jeff was sent to prison for a sentence considerably longer than those convicted of murder, kidnapping and rape in Oregon. Jeff is a political prisoner and continues to write and agitate for his release while imprisoned at Oregon State Penitentiary.

This film, made by the Cascadia Media Collective in March 2005 features the background of Jeff's case and the motives for his actions from his perspective. It attempts to explain how the state has attempted to portray Jeff as an eco-terrorist leader, and the effects this has had on both the length of the sentence and his life behind bars. The film is 40 minutes long.

I think "Vindicated" is referring to the Herald article a while back that claimed Boston anarchists were terrorists and implied they sympathized with al-Qaeda. It was bullshit, sensationalist writing.

Ha! If it was bullshit then say your real name and state your affiliation with ABC. If you are a normal american citizen engaging in legal activity then you have nothing to be ashamed of.

i've never heard of this person before. is there something behind the 22 years that i'm missing (i.e. was he a 3x convicted rapist beforehand), or was he really slammed that hard just for burning some cars? yikes. 22 years for burning a car.
Sharpie should go too.

"I figured it was you. When do you want to have this discussion?"

I know YOU are fully capable of intelligent discussion per our convo on 8/21. I would gladly shoot the shit with you again on such stuff. What would really amaze me is if something could be hooked up with a few of the other ABC members since the couple I met before were severely lacking in the reality department.

I propose a documented discussion between myself and a panel of ABC die hards to be later used in print publication (Haters Mag). I am willing to do this on any day in the near future. I am also considering filming a debate for use in video. It is all a question of who is in besides myself and yourself.
