Where & What Time: 11:00 am at Park Street.

On December 2 2001 an International Day for Capitalism is being held. This includes a march in the city of Boston. This march is in itself offensive enough to begin with, but especially offensive considering that the US is currently engaged in a war in which working class men and women are dying for the benefit of the capitalist system which these people promote.

We recognize that while it is important to oppose this march, which is an unacceptable insult added to the many injuries that capitalism inflicts on us on a daily basis, it is also important to not play into the hands of the organizers of this event. We must realize that this is not the same as dealing with fascists and Nazis (although these people are as, if not more, dangerous) and the same tactics do not necessarily apply. The organizers of this event have made it clear that one of their main objectives is to pain anti-capitalists in a negative light. While we must be present to show that such shameless pro-capitalism will not be accepted, we must be careful to not fall into their trap.

So, what are our objectives for December 2?

*To Stop, Disrupt, and/or Generally Harass the Pro-Capitalist March. If you feel that fringe racist groups are dangerous, then think about the damage capitalism and it’s supporters cause around the world, and the fact that we must confront and oppose them at every turn becomes clearly obvious. Capitalism is a dangerous, unstable, and murderous creature, and we are its prey. This is a matter of basic self-defense.

*To Expose and Ridicule the Capitalists We urge people to be creative about this. Bring puppets, do theater, make ironic signs (“Hooray for Capitalism, Hooray for Misery”). We can use our strength in numbers to infiltrate and eventually take over their march with our message in a way that effectively paints them in the negative light.

Our creativity is our strength!

See you on the 2nd!

perhaps some more info?
28 Nov 2001
Could someone post a little more info, e.g. who is organizing the walk for capitalism? it seems a peculiar and unusual event and it would be good to know more about what the situation is, just for info's sake, as well as to know more about what the character of their march will be...
Brilliant idea

Some Thoughts
28 Nov 2001
Hmm. Just be sure not to come off like a bunch of
arrogant, aggressive jerks. It's important to make fun of this thing,
not play into their atrempts to seem like victems of "undeserving
workers" or "government liberals". These "libertarian"
capitalist types (Libertarian Party, Ayn Rand Objectivists,
"anarcho" capitalists, etc.) try to make capitalism seem
like it is "radical" and ideas opposing capitalism to be "conservative"
or "reactionary". The best thing you can do is make fun of them...
dress as a clown with a funny sign... or yeah, like a homeless person,
or a business man handing out fake money with silly slogans on it.
Or, think of something even more wild and creative.

Be funny and creative... dont look like
a bunch of thugs. Dont let the capitalists
get the moral high ground... go there to make fun of them,
not to physicaly attack them.
