Israeli Consul general protest in Lexington- One arrest
06 Nov 2005
Modified: 06:51:59 AM
.
A small but fearless affinity group of Palestine solidarity activists has been making news across the suburban Boston area. With a few signs, flags and chants our disorganized group has endured barrages of insults, assaults, police attacks, arrests and intimidations to put the struggle for justice in Palestine into the headlines of half a dozen local papers, IMC’s and on to Fox News.

The extent and hold of Zionism in the Boston area is absolutely astonishing and it’s not an exaggeration to call it occupied territory.

At our last vigil protesting an appearance by the Israeli consul to New England we were attacked by the Lexington police with in minuets of our arrival on the sidewalk in front of the venue.

We were informed by the police that the event was free and open to the public (refreshments served) but that our signs and flags were not allowed inside. While we were deciding what to do the police created a “protest zone” and they told us we were not even close to being in it. We explained our constitutionally protected rights to freedom of speech and freedom of assembly to the officer. From his look I gathered there were going to be no refreshments for us.

Suddenly what seemed like the entire Lexington police department materialized from every direction. The side walk had apparently just been annexed by the Israelis because a supervisor informed us we were trespassing. I explained to the captain and his troops that since we were in America the side walk was public property and thus the three of us were not trespassing and were allowed to exercise our constitutional protected rights to freedom of assembly, and freedom of speech, and freedom of movement in that very spot.

The supervisor turned away from me towards a particularly aggressive beat cop and stated that it was a public safety issue now.

We got pounced on before I could add up that since we were the only public in sight and were completely surrounded by full time practitioners of violence he had just threatened our health and well being. Officer John Frissore grabbed my only dress shirt and so hard he tore it.

I looked at him straight in the eye and told him to stop it and to let go of me and because he was assaulting me. “That’s assault!” I repeated. In his face I could see a strange look I haven’t been able to excavate yet but it didn’t matter because there was nobody home.

Instantly Lexington’s finest tried to push and drag us off the side walk to some removed and imaginary “protest zone”. My knees were as stiff as the trunk of the olive tree that Caesar Augustus slept under in Sabastia and my conscience was as rooted as the one Jesus dined under in Jessamine.

“Take him?” “Take him!” I saw them trying to grab the others signs as I was slammed to the pavement and jumped up and down on.

I did not touch any of the officers in any way whatsoever. I did not violate any law or any statute in any way at any time nor did we intend to.

I will cherish the memory of my friends holding their “FREE PALESTINE -VICTORY TO THE INTIFADA” sign and the flag of Palestine high in an onslaught of state violence determined to sanitize a crucial public vista and wipe out colorfull opposition to occupation and all its savage, racist barbarity and corruption.

Resistance is a beautiful thing.

From the back of the cruiser on my way to a three day jail and court ordeal on fabricated charges of assault and battery of a police officer, trespassing , disorderly conduct and resisting arrest I saw a cop carrying our scarred sign that said “USA AND ISRAEL ARE THE REAL TERRORISTS” in dripping bloody letters.

Letter: Police handled protest situation well

Lexington is a community that should be proud of its police department and how it makes “lemonade out of lemons.” When the police notified Temples Isaiah and Emunah that a group of protesters wanted to come and disrupt a speech about Israel to be delivered by Meir Shlomo, Israel’s Consul General to New England, the Lexington Police had a plan to protect our citizens and the integrity of the event.

We thank the strong leadership of our synagogues and our Israel Action Committees of for being able to mobilize quickly and create a new security arrangement that allowed for both free speech for those who wanted to protest and did not allow for our event to be disturbed. It is quite unfortunate that one individual had to be arrested for his actions.

We should be proud of our police department and our state police who are able to quickly identify threats and maintain public safety. While we often take this for granted, we should not neglect to thank those who make us safe. We especially thank Chief Christopher Casey, Capt. Charles Sargent and Lt. Joseph O’Leary, as well as the Massachusetts State Police for their efforts.

Protester arrested outside Israeli's speech

By David Beard and Emma Stickgold, Globe Staff and Globe Correspondent | October 24, 2005

LEXINGTON -- A 35-year-old Newton man was arrested outside a synagogue last night after he allegedly shoved a police officer while protesting an event that featured Meir Shlomo, consul general of Israel to New England.

Police had beefed up patrols at the event after a posting on an Internet site called for a citizen's arrest of Shlomo.

The arrested man, whom police later identified as Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, was charged with trespassing, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest, said Lieutenant Detective Joe O'Leary. ''We're not going to let our officer get pushed like that," he said.

Xxxxxxx was among a handful of protesters who had gathered outside Temple Isaiah. One carried a sign that read ''Victory to the Intifada -- Free Palestine," referring to the Palestinian uprising against Israeli authority.

The Internet posting also prompted police to use metal detectors to screen many of the roughly 250 people who showed up for an event entitled ''After Gaza: Looking Ahead," said Rabbi Howard Jaffe of Temple Isaiah. The event also featured Charles Radin of the Globe staff, who recently returned from three years of reporting in the Middle East, and Jeff Robbins, former US representative to the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

Jaffe said he learned of the Internet posting on Friday, when State Police brought it to his attention. ''It talked about making a citizen's arrest of Meir Shlomo and bringing him before the Palestinian people," he said.

A protester who gave his name as Xxxxx Xxxxxx, of Weston, said his colleague refused a police request for protesters to move to the opposite side of the street.

Israeli consul general Meir Shlomo

Activist arrested at synagogue talk led by Israeli consul general
http://www.thejewishadvocate.com/this_weeks_issue/news/?content_id=433

LEXINGTON – A man was arrested on Oct. 23 for assaulting a police officer at a demonstration staged by a small group of anti-Israel protesters outside a post-Gaza disengagement talk at Temple Isaiah, which featured Meir Shlomo, Israel’s consul general to New England.
The assailant was identified as Newton resident Xxxxx Xxxxxx, 35, a veteran protester whose activism has previously led to confrontations with law enforcement. Xxxxxx has an outstanding warrant for disorderly conduct charges stemming from a protest at the Waltham-based technology company Raytheon earlier this year.

Xxxxxx was deported from Israel in 2004 for his activities with the International Solidarity Movement, the pro-Palestinian group known for bringing western activists to hotspots in Gaza and the West Bank.

Police presence at the talk, titled “After Gaza: Looking Ahead,” was increased after Lexington police discovered a protest announcement on the Internet which contained language the authorities found alarming. Referring to Shlomo, the announcement stated: “This is a rare chance for people to corner this notorious and blood soaked human rights abuser and criminal. Please join us to make a citizens arrest of an IDF occupier for crimes against humanity.”

Shlomo said of those who organized the protest: “I think the language shows exactly who they are. To use this kind of description for anybody shows that they’re probably not really interested in discussion …This kind of language really doesn’t deserve a response.” As for the demonstration itself, Shlomo noted that it was “a free country.”
The assault occurred just after the talk began, when police asked the six protesters to move for safety reasons. While being escorted across the street, Xxxxxx broke away and shoved an officer, prompting the arrest, said Lexington police Lt. Joe O’Leary.

Xxxxxx was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, assault and battery and resisting arrest.
The Temple Isaiah discussion, which was attended by an estimated 250 people, was free and open to the public, although because of heightened security concerns, police and temple officials didn’t allow anyone to carry in bags or signs. Discussion moderator and Temple Isaiah member Jeff Robbins told the Advocate that while a couple activists did make it into the event, the only disruption occurred when one had to be coaxed into a question after making a long-winded anti-Israel statement.

Xxxxxx, a former resident of Valdez, Alaska, has been in the Boston area since his deportation from Israel last year and appears to have been very active in local anti-U.S. and anti-Israel protests. In addition to being charged with resisting arrest and defacing property at the April protest at Raytheon, Xxxxxx was also most likely the person who staged a one-man protest outside the Boston University Hillel in late September, although he refused to give his last name to a reporter from the student newspaper at the time. Xxxxxx was also arrested for disorderly conduct at a small protest on the campus of Harvard on Oct. 10. He could not be reached for comment.

Lexington police have taken to monitoring local activist Web sites after several extremist groups had announced their intentions to stage demonstrations in the town, although Lt. O’Leary noted that most of the previous activity involved white supremacist groups and issues such as same-sex marriage and diversity in the schools.
It is not known if Xxxxxxx was working with one of the several pro-Palestinian groups in the Boston area, although O’Leary said that many of the people who were present at Sunday’s protest showed up for his hearing and offered to post bail, which was set at $1,000.

After his arraignment in Lexington, Xxxxxxx was transported to the Lawrence district court on a warrant for charges related to the April protest at Raytheon. His court date in Lexington was set for Nov. 21."

keep publicizing your events in advance so more people can join you if they wish, or at least come observe so there is more pressure on the police to behave.

As PALESTINE FREE put it...

"lexington police had a plan to protect our citizens"

portect??? From oposing view points??? From free speech???

It gets better.

"and the integirty of the even"

WHAT? which event? Zionists saying they have a birthright of murderous theft of palestinian lands or people saying that Zionists don't have a birthright of murderous theft of Palestinian lands??? Which event???

Oh, it gets better yet!

"we should be proud of our police department and state police who are able to quickly identify THREATS"

"THREATS"??? Oh, Zionists are not the only ones ALLOWED to have an opinion on Zionism's offenses. That IS a threat, to Zionist lies.

Well, when oposing view points, like Hebrews being murderous thieves of the land 3000 years ago is a piss poor pretext for Zionists forZionists to ALSO be murderous thieves of the land, and you call that a threat, well, you are just showcasing how scared of daylight you really are.

Keep up the struggle for Palestinian freedom!! It looks like the zionists are feeling very guilty about their crimes against the Palestinians and are so afraid that the Americans will find out about AIPAC,ADL and JDL.Zionist spies working for Israel have been operating in the US for years. The FBI has arrested and deported hundreds of them. However, there are thousands of zionist spies in the US committing crimes.Another reason to cut off all aid to Israel.Keep on exposing the zionist criminals.Read Norman Finkelstein.Normanfinkelstein.com

The terrorists stop fighting there would be peace. The IDF stop defending their country there will be even more bloodshed. Hmmm, just doesn't quite add up.
Re: Israeli Consul general protest in Lexington- One arrest
08 Nov 2005
Nope, the IDF doesn't protect Israel. It provokes Palestinians into responding (sometimes violently as it happens) in order to play the victim card and seize more land. In so doing, they have even shot Jewish citizens of Israel who attempted to draw attention to the illegal land-grabbing wall. Now veteran, why do you think there are so many Israeli Jews who are on the side of Palestinians and so few Palestinians on the side of the Likud government?
Re: Israeli Consul general protest in Lexington- One arrest
08 Nov 2005
Veteren seems to think, oops, I mean feel, that, "The terrorist stop fighting there would be peace."

Well, would the Nazi occupation of Denmark be equatable to PEACE in your mind IF the Danish freedom fighters stopped fighting??? I don't see how it could. Nazi occupation of Denmark was no more PEACE to the Danes as Zionist occupation of Palestinian lands is equatable with PEACE to the Palestinians. Do you consider appeasment of Zionist offenses as being PEACE?

Zionists are not "defending thier country". Zionists are occupying the Palestinian's homeland, stealing thier lands and murdering the palestinians who resist the Zionist's crusade, as well as murdering Palestinians who are just in the wrong place, as defined by the ZIonist crusaders. There happens to be a world of differance between defending youraself and being a murderous thief who scapegoats the victims.

If someone were to come into your home and takes your TV set god, that person would be a thief. RIGHT? we ALL know that much. And if you tried to stop the THIEF from STEALING your TV set god, only for the THIEF to pull a gun and low your brains all over your family and STILL steals your survivor's TV set god, then that would make the THIEF a MURDERER as well. RIGHT? We ALL know that much too.

Zionists didn't stop stealing Palestinian lands and murdering the Palestinians who resist in 1948. The Zionists STARTED stealing palestinian lands and MURDERING Palestinians who resist in 1948. And ZIonists have never stopped stealing palestinian lands and have never hesitated to MURDER the PAlestinians who resist the never ending theft of Palestinian lands by ZIonist crusaders. Even as you read these words, Zionists are stealing more and more lands in the west bank for settlements. And at the same time Zionists are being murderous thieves of more and more Palestinian land, you have the nerve to suggest that IDF are defending themselves. Are you really that prejudiced?

maybe you think, oops, I mean feel, that because the Judeo-christian (small c, ASK) dominated 1947 UN gave ZIonists thier blessings for ZIonists to be murderous thieves of palestinian lands that Zionists are not murderous thieves. If so, you would be wrong. Zionists are still 4 generations of murderous thieves, they are just murderous thieves with the blessings of interloapers to be murderous thieves.ZIonist offenses don't majicaly turn into defense just because outsiders would appease zionist offenses and conspire to deny the palestinians thier right to self determination and thier lands and thier lives, as Democraps and republitrash reloading the zionist crusader guns clearly illustrates.

You seem a very confused individual.
Re: Israeli Consul general protest in Lexington- One arrest
09 Nov 2005
Where do you get this stuff? The IDF provokes young kids to strap explosive devices onto themselves and detonate them in a crowded commuter bus full of children? How does that work? Hmmmm, isn't the terrorists the ones who constantly break the cease fire agreements? Aren't the Israelis giving land BACK to the Palestinians?
As for the TV set, I wouldn't waste my time and effort to stop some one from stealing it. With teh exception of the news, weather and Discovery Channel, I prefer to read!
Just plain silly!
Re: Israeli Consul general protest in Lexington- One arrest
09 Nov 2005
You seem to think ignoring what I write and responding to something noone wrote makes sence??? How does that work? Oh well, I guess you are to confused or you just are too chicken shit NOT to run away.

The fact that your tv set isn't worth risking your life doesn't change a damned thing in reguards to Zionists being murderous thieves, now does it??? Zionists are still murderous thieves. And it is still an offense to support murderous thieves, even if your TV set god is crap.

As for ZIonists giving Palestinians back Palestinian lands (I assume you mean gaza), since then, Zionists have already stolen twice as much lands in the west bank that they returned to thier Palestinian victims in gaza. The ZIonist's "pull out" of Gaza would be comparablr to a rapist who pulls out of his victims pussy to rape her asshole. I am not as impressed with either that as you seem to be about murderous thieving ZIonist crusaders and thier PR stunt ofremoving settlers from Gaza while the troops remain.

Once again, you showcase your own prejudices and end up looking as foolish as anyone else who parrots out the ZIonist's stale propaganda.
Re: Israeli Consul general protest in Lexington- One arrest
09 Nov 2005
Wasn't it after a cease fire was forced onto the French people that French freedom fighters started fighting the occupiers of france??? By your simple "understanding" that would make the French freedom fighters "terrorists." Obviously the US didn't see it that way, because they supplied the "terrorist" ( according to your simple "understanding" ) with the weapons the alleged "terorrist" used to help liberate thier homeland.

And don't forget that it is also after cease fires were agreed to UNDER the extream duress of Zionist invadors by SOME Palestinians that ZIonists continued stealing Palestinian lands. Zionists have never stopped stealing Palestinian lands, even after agreeing not to. Oslo is a fine example. And a tiny fraction of a percent of the Palestinians (something like .000038%) respond with viloence to Zionist offenses. Well duh. Too bad you try to get people to focus on the tiny fraction of a percenty of Palestinians responding to Zionist offenses rather than the offenses that created the "conflict." It probable confuses really really stupid people.

You are just happy to scapegoat the victims of the Zionist's never ending offenses. That is fine with me. I am just happy to expose your vile prejudes.
Re:Beware the zionist trolls
09 Nov 2005
Zionists never sleep they work 24/7.How do you think they persuaded America to give them what ever they want even when they conspire against us and break our laws?Imagine if an Arab nation was caught stealing classified information from the Pentagon. It would be in every newspaper, but when Israel does it the media and government try to keep it a secret ? As a matter of fact Israeli agents have been arrested many times for this crime and are quietly deported back to Israel. Now they want to make it illegal to criticize Israel on college campuses.Let's fight back against the zionist gangsters in America and Israel.
