In memorial of the legal murder of the anarchists Louis Lingg, Albert Parsons, George Engel, August Spies, Adolph Fischer by the state of Illinois in 1886, BAAM held a candle light vigil in downtown Boston. At the vigil the speeches the accused had read during their kangaroo trial were soapboxed to a large onlooking crowd. Labor songs were sung. Pamphlets about the history of the 8-hour day struggle were distributed to a receptive audience. Many passersby were genuinely interested in the history and the lessons that it teaches us today. |

We should resume our trailed off conversations.
Various theses proposed were:
1) No one in their right mind should heckle anarchists on a Friday night.
2) People who are not anti-racists are racists.
3) The Haymarket Rioters are martyrs.
Also notes on the event: glassy eyed and sparky wannabe girl, drunk woman, chinese guard in the plaza, cell phone photographers, and "Dudditz" from Dreamcatcher in the winter hat spying on the vigil from the Park Street Outbound entrance. |
